Welcome to the Lisa Leeds for House District 58 Campaign. Lisa Leeds is excited to be your Libertarian candidate for Tennessee House District 58. Lisa Leeds has the courage to bring you a government of tolerance and individual responsibility. From tolerance comes peace, and from individual responsibility comes prosperity.
Lisa Leeds is the only candidate in Tennessee House District 58 that understands how the free market can be used to provide you better services (such as and healthcare and our children’s education) at a greatly reduced cost and a smaller tax burden. America and Tennessee were founded upon the concept of self-government. Founding fathers such as Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry pledged their lives in defense of self-government. Tennessee became a state because in the late 1700s the people of western North Carolina wanted self-government. The prosperity of self-government allowed America to become one of the greatest nations in the world.

Web site will be up soon is being worked on but here are some of the points of my campaign:
1. Education :
I hope to live to see the day when we stop dividing our children up into poor and rich... I think all children need a chance a a good education...
The federal government does not own our children. Yet we act as if it does by letting it decide when, how, and what our children will learn. We have turned their futures over to lobbyists and bureaucrats.
2. Health Care:
Health care should not be left up to HMOs, big drug companies, and government bureaucrats.
It is time to take back our health care. This is why I support:
Making all medical expenses tax deductible.
Eliminating federal regulations that discourage small businesses from providing coverage.
Giving doctors the freedom to collectively negotiate with insurance companies and drive down the cost of medical care.
Making every American eligible for a Health Savings Account (HSA), and removing the requirement that individuals must obtain a high-deductible insurance policy before opening an HSA.
Reform licensure requirements so that pharmacists and nurses can perform some basic functions to increase access to care and lower costs.
By removing federal regulations, encouraging competition, and presenting real choices, we can make our health care system the envy of the world once again.
3. Jobs/Poor :
Consider who is being helped in each model. Consider which model will do more for the poor. When taxes are reduced more can be given to charities. When government regulations on working and employment are removed more people can begin to work and earn a living wage. When minimum wage laws that hurt the poor and unskilled and uneducated workers are repealed, more people will become employed for better pay.
Model 1:
We pay $10.00 in taxes to help the poor
$1.00 goes to the tax collectors
$1.00 goes to the Federal Welfare Administrators
$1.00 goes to the Tennessee Welfare Administrators
$1.00 goes to the County/Local Welfare Administrators
$6.00 goes to the poor
Model 2:
We give $10.00 to a local charity
$1.00 goes to administer the local charity
$9.00 goes to the poor
