I LOVE pit bulls. I was first attracted to them when my parents told me no matter what they would rip me to shreds and kill me.Not even kidding those were almost the exact words. As an animal lover I absolutely refused to believe an animal would ever want to hurt me..especially one that is kept as a pet. When I learned about dog fighting is when i realized it was possible for a dog like that to exist..but I also knew that since some were lovers others were killers it couldnt be the breed.
I have been volunteering and fundraising for shelters since i was old enough to drive to them. On a regular trip with a good friend of mine to a scary part in philly delivering blankets to this unheated (is that a word?) welfare center for animals I found her. I was taking the dogs for walks and spending extra time with the serious cage rage dogs. Freckles in general a pint sized killing machine was taking up most of my day...to convince him to come out of his cage and walk with me not attack. I heard whimpering through out the day when the barking would cease momentarily from the other dogs. I finally got to her cage. Her name then was Kellianne a GORGEOUS white pit who was 1-2 yrs old. She had an owner as a pup but they could afford her anymore so threw her in the street. She was picked up by this place when she was about 8 months..put in a foster home that used her white coat to breed...stole her puppies and threw her back out. :( She had NO cage rage..just high energy and very high anxiety. She dindt know me at all but would cry when i passed her by. How could i leave her?! She was completely skin and bones and sick and doing badly because she is extreemly social. So The next day she was snipped and i came back and took my angel home and ahve been hiding her from the landlord ever since~! With some medicine, TLC and lots of food i'm glad to say that since november when I first saved her she is doing fabulous! She still has some anxiety but we are working on that :D I dont remember life without her and i haven't even had her a year.
Owning a bully is not for everybody...just like owning a yippy little dog is not for me(although they are adorable!). You have to be willing to devote time everyday into exercise for your dog. They are a very active breed and if not givin an outlet for all that energy they may rip apart your furniture, develop separation anxiety, "cage rage" etc. this is true of all dogs but more destructive in a dog of this size.
WIth that in mind if you are willing to obtain a dog that will love you instantly and unconditionally...a bully is for you..they are FAMILY DOGS AND WERE NEVER EVER BRED TO BE AGGRESSIVE TOWARD HUMANS!!!! Don't breed or buy while shelter dogs die. There are SO MANY in need of a loving stable home. Dogs live in the NOW not the PAST! an abused dogs will have some spooks or triggers, I can work with you to help get them over that or I can keep them for a few weeks and work on them and give them to you along with an education on how to love and care for a dog like that. They wont snap or resort to old ways if treated properly. They dont live in the past..remember that!

I will give you the tools to raising a happy love-a-bull pit bull or any dog for that matter ..behavior issues are NOT breed-specific if a pomeranian is nipping at your heels people think thats cute or ignore cause its a small dog but when a pit bull shows the same dominant behaivor its on the front page of the news and banned. if a bully is not for you and you are looking for any type of animal..rabbits, cats, other dogs...PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE consider adoption! there are SO MANY waiting for good homes...and with 2 rescue cats and 2 bunnies i love them all just as well and i'd LOVE to help you find the one for you!
