Big Slack...the man, the myth, the artist! Hailing from Oklahoma City, OK (via Guthrie, OK) this wordsmith has an intresting prospective on things. Un-afraid to tackle senstive subjects such as race and religion, Slack is a breath of fresh air in a somewhat stale market bogged down with commericalism, "bling", and ghostwriting (practice in which a rapper pays someone to write his rhymes).
Though he didnt pick up a mic until about 2000, growing up in small town Oklahoma, Slack submerged himself in Hip Hop culture. Rapping almost as a hobby, Slack started to notice he would always stand out against the rappers that were taking themselves seriously. It was only a matter of time til he grabbed a pen and pad and started to carve out the path that would be his career.
In 2005 Slack released his first solo ep, Irish Mafioso. Mostly sold at shows and to freinds, the IM ep became an undergound classic. Then in the summer of 2006 Slack released his first solo mixtape, Pick Up the Slack vol 1. Mostly over industry beats, in true mixtape style, Pick Up the Slack expanded his already growing fanbase to a new level. Due to high demand for a Big Slack full length album, Slack is currently in the studio putting this project together.
Having shared the stage with underground legends like Twiztid, 2 Live Crew, Insane Clown Posse, McNastee, Menacide, Shy One, ABK and more, Slack is right at home performing. Backed by hypeman iLL, Slack's stage show is high energy, which is un-expected from a big man. Very few people can see a Slack show and not walk away a fan. Combining stage presence with a killer instinct on the mic, Slack has a message for all the 'half-ass rappers' out there, "Time to take your one cheek and go home"!
