I have always loved the beat, a broken beat that is a.k.a. "breakbeats." As a child I wanted to create a beat but could not quite figure out how I wanted to make it. After giving up on the electronic keyboard, I simply started making cassette mix tapes by splicing songs to the radio at a break together. Madonna, Prince & the Revolution, Duran Duran, The Fixx, Simple Minds, Janet Jackson, The Human League, and Euro80's were some of my influences. In my twenties I was introduced to the electronic dance scene by my lil bro, DJ KELL-E, who also mixes. As an avid party-goer I was always there to dance and for the dj. I finally decided to get decks of my own because you know being a girl, the guys didn't really want you on their equipment if you didn't know what you were doing and I understand why now! So after three years of self-teaching and help from a dear friend (i love you Harmony Girl) here I am. I play a webcast regularly for Harmony Productions and was just added as a Harmony Productions dj which is a huge accomplishment for me. You can go to www.harmonynet.net to either check out archives or see the new lineups but this happens religiously every Wednesday night beginning at 9:00 pm CSTD so be sure to tune in. We have some great dj talent here in Birmingham. I have also been working hard on mixes for demo purposes. Some are available for free download at www.musicv2.com/artist/dj_frequie_g.My mix, "Soulpossession" was broadcast on four different internet radio stations featured by Chris Heathen & DJ Exodus on the "Dirty Drumz Radio Show" with house legend Terry Mullan. I have also played Harmony Productions, "Playground 2007" opening the night up for Aprhodite and several Pure Presidential Productions events including, "Battle of the Beats," "Vinyl Vixens," and "Thriller II." I also have had the pleasure of playing the Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser, "Relief II" alongside DJ Miss Able opening up the night for D-lerium & Faze ftg. Darling Nikki. Opened for DJ Trashy at Club Lavela for the "Midnight Rocker CD Release Tour," performed a tag-team duo with D-DOT at "Shamrock'n" with DJ Lord of Public Enemy and most recently opened up for DJ Doc Roc at "On & Poppin."I look forward to future events.I have just finished my two first raw cuts of remixes, "Life's Good" and "Syckodelic Bitch." I am currently working on a few original tracks, so stay tuned! Feedback would be great because i am rookie 2 makin beatz... I can drop 'em and pop 2 'em but production is a whole different science.
