I am here for Friends and Networking

About Me

I am a performance artist, fine artist, dancer, and model, with musical ambitions and an eclectic manifestation of other talents. I'm fascinated by installation art and occasionally participate in its creation, although I prefer it if there's some sort of performance aspect involved. I have a fondness for independent film-making and music making, am working on a comic book (possibly soon to be more), and am a die-hard Magic-playing geek. A geek with social skills, but a geek nonetheless... Thus, it should not surprise anyone that I am also the Creative Director for the TempleCon gaming convention in Providence, RI. Please check out our website if you're curious...
If I had to sum myself up neatly in some minimalist fashion, my words of choice would be "rebellious traditionalist."
Of course, I am rarely minimalist. ;)
Therefore, I will leave this description of myself with a pair of favorite quotes:
"For the bravest are surely those who, having the clearest vision of what is before them, glory and danger alike, notwithstanding, go forth to meet it." ~ Pericles
and
"Every fact of science was once Damned. Every invention was considered impossible. Every discovery was a nervous shock to some orthodoxy. Every artistic innovation was denounced as fraud and folly. The entire web of culture and "progress," everything on earth that is man-made and not given to us by nature, is the concrete manifestation of some man's refusal to bow to Authority. We would own no more, know no more, and be no more than the first apelike hominids if it were not for the rebellious, the recalcitrant, and the intransigent. As Oscar Wilde truly said, 'Disobedience was man's Original Virtue'." ~ Robert Anton Wilson

My Interests

Antiquities in general, vintage clothing and automobiles in particular, languages (both living and dead), comic books, various sorts of role-playing games (geek!), music composition, poetry composition, horticulture, quilting, costume design, mead-making, martial arts, all things metaphysical, steampunk, corsetry, interesting and unusual textures, Asian cuisine, pin-up art, multi-genre dance, the spaces between cultures

I'd like to meet:

Fellow artists and musicians of a bohemian bent, activists and mystics with their feet firmly planted on the ground, scientists who have not yet had the wonder ground out of them, poets and fey wanderers of the night all crowned in stars, and all those for whom the art of conversation is alive and kicking, a means to our noblest ends.

Television:

As a rule, I don't watch television, but if I'm to be trapped in a room with a live television, I'd rather it be tuned to the Sci-Fi Channel or the Cartoon Network. In the past, I've had a fondness for Babylon 5, Nowhere Man, Deep Space Nine, Farscape, the original Iron Chef, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Samurai Jack, Dirty Jobs, Monty Python, Firefly, Doctor Who, Jon Stewart, The Addams Family, Monarch of the Glen, and Six Feet Under.
