When intellectuals go bad. . .

About Me

[For the convenience of y'all skimmming over this, I will bold and underline the important terms]
During the day I am an erstwhile attorney doing mostly appellate litigation on progressive lefty liberal social issues. I also do a variety of other consulting and research projects.
I spend much of my other time preforming with fire, making electronic music/noise, running my art gallery <[b> Vorpal Space ], writing inflammatory essays and opinion pieces, riding and wrenching on my antique motorcycles, lifting heavy things in the gym, sparring, tending to Artemis [my cat] and my bonsai, drinking gourmet tea, pacticing with my firestaff and firewhip, and clubbing [baby seals].
I co-produce a dark arts performance ensemble called Societas Insomnia , and I run a fire-fetish performance art troupe called Prometheus Bound . Also, I am also a member of Firerotica, another fire-fetish troupe, Circuri Curajul, a [now defunct] touring circus, 999 Eyes ov Endless Dream [a carnival and freak show] and Batty's Hippodrome [a victorian revival circus] as well as doing regular guest appearances with yet more fire and performance art troupes. Additionally, I have a regualr slot at Dante's as part of the Sinferno Cabaret, and also do regular guest appearances at the Someday Lounge . At Burning Man I perfrom with Garnish in the Fire Conclave. Over the past 5 or 6 years I have performed in hundreds of shows.
Much of this is on my website: www.fireninja.com
As an excercise in narcicisism and for the benefit of my friends, I maintain blog on livejournal which I update somewhat regularly, and have integrated into fireninja.com.

I'd like to meet:

Mostly, I use networking sites to keep up with existing flesh-and-blood friends -- for me at least, this is not a virtual popularity contest

However, I am always down to meet smart interesting people who can keep up their end of a conversation.

So, Feel free to message me, but if I don't know you, please don't send me a friend request without having ever communicated with me -- if you do you will be ignored. If you do know me and I have ignored your request, send me a message -- sometimes I can't tell who people are from their elaborate profile. If you send me a friend request and your profile is set to private, and I can't tell whether I know you from the picture you will be ignored. If you are lame, uninteresting, a poser, a sycophant, or someone looking for hookups and a ride on my coat tails you will be ignored. For that matter, I don't want to be your band's friend. And finally, if you have over 1000 friends you will probably be ignored. I feel no obligation to even be virtual friends with complete strangers, and these are my rules. Sorry kids.

Artists submitting art for consideration by Vorpal Space should send messages to the Vorpal Space profile, not my personal profile.

Music:

I guess this is where I list stuff I like... so in no particuluar order: Boards of Canada, Duke Ellington, John Cage [mostly for his theoretical perspectice], Aphex Twin, Fischerspooner, Autechre, Gescom, Front 242, Ladytron, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Beanfield, Telepopmusic, Stockhausen, Mr. Scruff, Ministry, adult, Merzbow, Portishead, Laibach, Spring Heel Jack, Infected Mushroom, Gregorian Chant, KMFDM, Bach, Astral Projection, Miss Kittin, Groove Salad on Soma FM

Movies:

I see the occasional movie. As for favorites -- I like BladeRunner, Brazil, The Dark Crystal, A Clockwork Orange, anything directed by Orson Wells, [but especially Citizen Kane and A Touch of Evil], old Jet Lee and Jackie Chan, Peter Jackson's take on the Lord of the Rings was good. Hero is my favorite of the recent batch of Chinese wire-work flicks.

Television:

Television? That's the glowing thing that looks like an old computer mointor, right? It doesn't even have an internet connection. . . what possible use could it be?
