Class War is a five-piece heavy rock/metal band from Surrey/Sussex, UK. Encompassing a love for music which is melodic yet rocking and contains the dying arts of guitar solos and real vocals, the band aim to forge long-lasting ties with friends and fans, making music they love to play just as much as others like to hear, rather than bucking to "flash in the pan" trends which are forgotten just as quickly as they are hyped-up. Feeding from influences such as Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Dream Theater, Monster Magnet and AC/DC, Class War combine this with a modern groove, complex rhythms and distinctive lead-guitar and lead-bass playing to provide a sound mysterious and unique, yet somehow familiar at the same time.
Beginning as a nameless project late in 2003 involving Jack Wilton (Vocals/Guitar), Dom OReilly (Bass) and Chris "T-leaf" Baldwin (Drums), the band remained this way for many months, with Jack continuing to write songs, while a search ensued for second guitarist. After sifting through many hopefuls, who either did not fit the vision of the band, or had commitments elsewhere, options were running out! However, in a timely coincidence, Dom met Randy Withers (Lead Guitar) whilst playing in another band - "Central Limit" - at university. "Central Limit" subsequently broke-up and in the summer of 2004, Randy jammed with Jack, Dom and T-leaf, bringing his own unique style, to complete the line-up and the name "Class War" was adopted. Already with a number of songs written, Class War spent the next month or so preparing their set before embarking on their highly successful maiden gig at The Freebutt, Brighton supporting 9-Volt and Starscream. Following the gig, the band spent another couple of months writing and preparing new material before playing to a full-house at The Greyhound, Redhill. Since then, Class War has gigged regularly round the country, playing venues from 50-1000 capacity, earning a reputation for a sterling live performance.
In April 2006, Class War released their long-awaited debut demo CD "The Garage Sessions". Capturing the essence of their live performance and the range of styles they are capable of, the CD was self-recorded at the band's studio in Haywards Heath, England.
Currently the band is preparing to record the follow-up to "The Garage Sessions" - roll on Vol. 2!!
New guitarist Dave McKinney joined Class War in June, giving Jack the opportunity to become the dedicated lead singer and frontman to the group, and paving the way for a more complex dual lead guitar style.
