About Me

Brazilian native Alberto Netto grew up playing in samba groups, batucada reunions, and escola de samba rehearsals on the streets of his hometown of Santos. Alberto Netto was self-taught on the drumset. He performed with many Brazilian music and jazz combos in Santos and São Paulo - Brazil. Later, Alberto studied with Brazilian masters including Realcino "Nenê" Lima, Zé Eduardo Nazário and Duda Neves who encouraged him to come to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Alberto was awarded with a scholarship and graduated in 1993. At Berklee he Studied with Skip Hadden, Joe Hunt, John Ramsay, Steve Wilkes, Hal Crook, Ed Tomassi, Herb Pomeroy among others. Alberto Netto is now Assistant Professor in the percussion department at Berklee. He has performed and/or recorded with many talents, including Claudio Roditti, Aaron Scott, Skip Hadden, Matt Johnson, Alain Mallet, Aaron Goldberg, Luciana Souza, Luiz Arruda Paes Big Band, Chico Gomes and the David Costa Quintet.
