BIO:
In the beginning, there was just a word and that word was Fuckshovel. If it wasn't for that word then this band wouldn't exist. Simple as.
Five grown men, two of whom hadn't experienced their balls dropping yet, started to create music that would live up to their name. Crafted around bands like Anthrax, GBH, Pantera and Slayer, Fuckshovel were soon making a sound that could sit proudly alongside said classic artists.
After completing their first three-track demo in late-2005, Fuckshovel’s name began to circulate but it was only when they completed their second demo that they took themselves out of the studio and hit the toilet circuit around the M25 area, Guisborough and Wales for the first time. The result was as expected… fucking mayhem!
In September 2006, the band scaled down to a four-piece and this gave them a fresh impetus and a tighter arse. So far, this year has exploded for them – they’ve recorded four killer tracks, The Antidote, Don’t Believe In God, Long Time Dead and Skull & Bones, in London’s famed Metropolis studios (recording home of U2, Slipknot, Babyshambles and Kate Moss). So good was this session that they’ve even had labels sniffing their crotches for the first time and John Kennedy playing it on his XFM show. Fuckshovel should soon become the universal word it deserves to become.
Their debut video (for Long Time Dead) is straight forward yet inspired. Starring Nobby, their twenty-six stone tour driver, as it’s star, he doesn’t talk, dance or act, he just polishes off seven tins of Ravioli in three and a half minutes. The fat bastard. MTV have rinsed it while Nobby is still digesting it all.
"Probably the best unsigned rock band in the UK. With an ever growing underground following and with several festival appearances under their belt in 2007 we predict that 2008 will be a big year for this band. Dont miss them." - Barfly
"Cool shit! Rockin!" - MTV Headbangers Ball
"So thank your maker for Fuckshovel who should achieve greatness on their name alone. Lots of agit-punk-metal' – Londonist.
"Reminds me of the last works of Skid Row, only it is heavier. Rigid, powerful and spiteful" – Darkzine, Russia
"Let’s firstly give credit where credit’s due; what a great name, it certainly endeared me to this South London bunch of stoners straight away.
This has elements of Corrosion of Conformity, ‘Load’ era Metallica and various 70s orientated rock around today. A catchy and infectious groove." – Live4Metal.com
"Aggressive rock - similar to early 90’s Anthrax" - rocksomething.com
"Fuckshovel are masters of the heavy metal underworld - a Black Sabbath/Judas Priest amalgam" - Oppositiont.co.uk
"I recommend this band to all you old school guys ! A brilliant discovery !" - MARock Magazine, Morocco
"Blistering rock songs that still smoulder with the flames of their creation! ...place this band up there among the likes of punk-gods The Sex Pistols, The Buzzcocks,
and The Clash, as well as metal influences such as Metallica, Anthrax and Pantera." – Rock of Ages Magazine
"Comparable to Motorhead put into a more contemporary context, since it certainly has their rock n’ roll groove and underlying punk drive." – Powerplay Magazine
"Fuckshovel seems to be the perfect name for this English quintet ... ample amounts of both sleaze and rawk grit, treading the same ground as bands like Every Time I Die if they
crossed paths with Warrior Soul. Big grooves, loud guitars, crash and burn rhythms, and an appetite for destruction is what these guys bring to the table...kicks you in the head sans any
sense of humor or remorse" – Rock Matrix
"Like Helmet mixed in with some old school sounding metalcore. 3 tunes just wetted my appetite for more." – Metalcorefanzine
"Old school punk and metal with a hint of nu-skool - Loud, riotous rock" - Black Velvet Magazine
