The time has come for self destructive rock n roll

About Me

Press Release
[f.e.v.e.r.] – 4st_Fourst

The long awaited fourth release, first full-length, by [f.e.v.e.r.] – “4st_Fourst” – is finally out through RagingPlanet Records, after two EPs with original songs and a CD with remixes by various guests.
Ok, we’re lying… it isn’t the fourth release but the boys like thinking of it that way – since 1999, [f.e.v.e.r.] released 2 EPs (one of them reissued with extras), 1 CD with remixes, 2 Singles, appeared on 3 Tribute Records (The Misfits, The Cure, Mão Morta) and in many other compilation CDs and samplers, totaling nearly 20 releases by now – to be honest, the record we’re introducing should be called 18st or 19st…
…but it’s not! It is called “4st_Fourst” – nine tracks of vicious, open-minded and experimental SciFi Rock. The perfect record if you usually run away from narrow-minding categorizations (or if you like figuring new categorizations out): too electronic for the rock fan; too rock for the electronic fan; too metal for the pop fan; too pop for the metal fan; too atmospheric for the industrial fan; too industrial for the atmospheric fan and so on… No frontiers – inspiration comes from The Beatles to Napalm Death; from David Sylvian to Massive Attack; from Depeche Mode to Tom Waits; from NIN to Ennio Morricone and everything in between. Good inspiration comes from every music genre and if you don’t take that into account, Mr. Darwin’s theories will take good care of you – that’s the main idea behind [f.e.v.e.r.].
Compulsively produced for around two years at Urban Insect Studios, the band’s home, by Fernando Matias & João Queirós and mastered by Tom Baker (NIN, Ministry, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, Deftones and others), the final result is a potent eclectic electro-rock hybrid, highly addictive and deliberately overproduced, ready to challenge the listener and capable of destroying repeat buttons on stereos due to extreme usage. You may not like it but you will want to listen to it again just to be sure about your opinion… and in the meantime you’ll get to discover another 3 or 5 never heard before hidden textures.
Since the beginning of their career in 1999, there was always one preoccupation on the band’s mind: future-readiness.
The first two EPs “Of Human Bondage” (2001) and “Iconflict” (2003) prove it, standing as the first two steps before a higher leap entitled “Electronics” (2005), an object of total perversion and musical promiscuity, where the songs of both EPs are reinterpreted by relevant names in the Portuguese independent music scene: Aenima, Bizarra Locomotiva, Mécanosphère, Mofo, Moonspell, Sci Fi Industries, Shhh... and The Ultimate Architects.
In the meantime, the band performed as opening act in sold out venues with bands like Moonspell, HIM, Type O Negative, Kreator or 30 Seconds To Mars, collaborated with people like Martin Rev (Suicide) or the classical ensemble Corvos, was invited to appear in an anniversary compilation assembled by the David Lynch Foundation, by the time of the director’s birthday, earlier this year, and will be featured on the Original Sound Track of British horror comedy film “The Vampires Of Bloody Island”, later this year.
The music video for “Bipolar [-]” – the first single extracted from “4st_Fourst” – was directed by António Campelo and won two prizes at the Black & White Film Festival, Porto 2006 – Best National Production and Best Animation Film.
