What Is Monsters Of Mayhem?
Well basically Monsters of Mayhem are gigs that are run by Me (Dunny - I'm a guitarist in a couple of bands) and a few friends and family that help out. Mike has the internet brains and manages the main website (www.monstersofmayhem.co.uk).
If you have myspace come and join our friends list. All messages are answered cos we are a real friendly bunch, we just all love music!
The team at MoM started as Mike, San, Matt, Danny and Me (Dunny) then Mandi was dragged in (kicking and screaming) as an additional door slave. Next addition to the team was an excellent sound tech, Col.
Just one big happy family!
We did have our own MoM photographer but so many of the people that come to MoM love photography we have a 'swap around' - keep an eye on the credits at the end of each gigs slide show to find out who took the pictures. BIG thanks to all those that have helped out so far - especially Ben who started us off and kept us 'in the picture' for most of 2006!
The first couple of MoM gigs were DKO, Doll Face Losers, Away From Home and a few friends.
We all worked hard on building up a good local band scene in our area, Runcorn. For anyone from outside the local area Runcorn is 'Two Pints Of Lager and a Packet of Crisps' country!! (But one day it WILL be known as the home of Monsters of Mayhem lol!)
Once we started there were a lot of bad gigs going on trying to cash in on it
SO, we launched properly out of The Quayside in Runcorn.
To start with gigs were held on the first Saturday of every month but it isn't always possible to stick to the original plan.
Dates for gigs will be posted on both websites along with a band line up for each night, any changes will also be posted on both sites.
It is not a ticket gig - its pay on the door. To start with entry was £3 but due to escalating costs and additional security requirements this has now been increased to £4.
Doors open at 7.30pm and we normally have to close them again by about 8pm due to the sheer number of people. We have a guestlist service which, for an extra £1 on the door, guarantees you entry up to 9pm.

The venue holds approximately 200 (not including the bands) and we have people queued outside from about 6pm.
The quality of the bands is mostly amazing. MoM originally started to give young local bands somewhere to play the music they love, up on a stage in front of a crowd. We now have bands coming from all over the UK.
Reviews from the past Monsters of Mayhem gigs have been amazing so if you fancy a great night of music - come and join us!
Rules Of Monsters Of Mayhem
Okay, so wherever you go there are going to be rules.
We have 2
1. No pits
2.No under 18's with alcohol or buying of alcohol for under 18's
Anyone breaking these rules may be kicked out!
No refunds
No nothing
Just out.....basically!
You will be asked for ID by staff at the bar if the you look under 18 - don't be offended.. its their job on the line AND our venue!
Security will be patrolling the room throughout the night and anyone in possession of an alcoholic drink who appears to be under age will be asked for ID...
No ID - No drink!
It will be taken from you.
Consistent rule breaking by anyone will result in them being barred from the venue.
NO other place will have a bar open AND do functions for people where there are under 18's - its too risky! So if we want to keep the venue we have to abide by the rules.
The pit situation.... its stupid really
All that happens is that people get wrecked and start fighting so there are 10 people "pittin" and then everyone else has to try and navigate through with drinks
Basically its a joke, so there is a "no pittin rule" headbangin, skankin', conga lines or freakin ballroom dancin - thats fine, just no pits tho!
It really ruins the night when someone who just wants to watch some good bands is thrown into a pit or has someone thrown into them.
Monsters of Mayhem is an open age gig. We want to encourage younger people to come down and enjoy the music - not worry about being thrown into a pit.
Monsters of Mayhem gigs are NOT organised by The Quayside - we hire the room to bring you these nights - if rules are broken this puts the gigs at risk. So please be aware of this - we want to carry on at this venue and we're sure you want us to!
So its I.D. at the bar for drinks and no pits - not such a huge price to pay for a great night of music!

Wanna Play at Monsters Of Mayhem
So this area is for the bands who want to play at these gigs.
If Ive heard of you / heard good things then we should be good to go, if not - just record something - put it on soundclick and email me the link or if your band have a myspace account send me the link and Ill have a listen on there and let you know - sounds fair right?
The gig ALWAYS sells out - it is a big gig - 150-200 people every night, some great people who wanna hear some good music and support local bands who they may or may not have heard before.
We normally have one gig a month but we are on the look out for an additional venue so this could change.
A night at Monsters of Mayhem gives you four live bands.
The last 2 bands on get paid the first 2 bands are basically playing for the experience and exposure but we can help towards travel costs.
Your band could open a night at Monsters of Mayhem - if you play well not only could you find yourselves back at MoM higher up the bill but you might even find yourselves more gigs as support for one of the headlining bands.

The venue (The Quayside, Runcorn) has really nice acoustics too so the sound is always ace.
We used offer the option of having your set recorded by our PA guy. He would mix it all down for you and a couple of weeks after the gig you would have a recording of your band live. At the moment we are unable to offer this service as we have changed our PA guy MoM now has its own team instead of bringing in an outside sound company. It keeps the costs down so that we can keep entry costs to an affordable level for everyone. Hopefully the recording option will be available again in the future.
