VitaL emerged on the internet around 1999.
Starting out by posting on random hip hop forums led him to develop a style and sound he is now getting known for. His unique sound was developed mostly because of the ongoing "you sound like this dude" or the "you tryna be like this dude" type of talk that goes on in the underground community. Often criticized because of his mellow, laid back "whisper flow" style, people love to hate and try to knock what he has become.
