About Me

Welcome to the Mohawk Place.Mohawk Place was started in 1990 by one Pete Perrone. Pete renovated the bar after it had been vacated for quite some time, still, he preserved much of its interior to closely mirror what it looked like almost a hundred years prior, when it was a turn of the century gin mill. By the early 1990s, Mohawk Place began hosting shows on its tiny stage. Many local and national blues acts began to play here, gaining quite a bit of notoriety over the years. By 1995, the bar started to bring in underground acts from all over the country as well as original local bands and a younger crowd began to rub elbows with the bikers. In 2002, after years of talk, mohawk place expanded its size to a 300 person capacity venue. The back rooms, the kitchen and the old bathrooms were taken out to build a larger room with a much bigger stage. Although the bigger stage was used the majority of the time, the small stage remained for more quiter and intimate shows. Mohawk Place continues to adhere to its blues roots by hosting friday happy hours with various local blues bands. We also have certain traditions throughout the year, including the Joe Strummer Tribute Night in December and the Syd Barrett Tribute Show in January. Mohawk Place is an artist friendly venue. We try our best to take care of everyone who performs here. Everyone who works here is a true fan of music and almost all of them plays music themselves. Over the years, Mohawk Place has taken pride in hosting undeground and independent bands. Some of the bands that have performed here include Smog, The Pernice Brothers, The Angels of Light, Pelican, The White Stripes, The Donnas, Richard Buckner, The Black Heart Procession, Fruit Bats, The Clientele, Tilly and the Wall, The Ponys, Chin Up Chin Up, Steve Wynn, Peter Case, Hank III, The Hold Steady, Don Caballero, Weird War, Joe Lally (of Fugazi), Johnny Dowd, Wayne Hancock, Slobberbone, Grand Champeen, Kid Congo Powers, 45 Grave, Rainer Maria, Now It's Overhead, Headlights, Knife in the Water, Willard Grant Conspiracy, Laura Veirs, Damien Jurado, Magnolia Electric Company, Tommy Stinson, The Warlocks, Akron/Family, Devendra Banhart, Freakwater, Victory At Sea, Mekons, The Waco Brothers, Mates of State, Easy Action, The Modey Lemon, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, The Sadies, 50 Foot Wave, Two Gallants, Wolf Eyes, Black Dice, Centro-matic, Great Lake Swimmers, Mark Kozelek, Wreckless Eric, The Jazz Butcher, among many many others that i can't think of the moment.
