For some reason biographies just sound better if they are written in the third person.
Denno is a producer and DJ residing in the thriving music scene in Melbourne. Currently he is working a solo album of original material. He already has a couple of releases under his belt in both the metal and hip hop scenes, the most recent being the Homebrand mixtape (Flavoured Hip Hop) which is available as a free download.
Denno's development as a musician started at a tender age of 7 when he was first handed a recorder in primary school. After striking several students with the instrument and placing the wrong end into his nose, he finally discovered the intended use of this most majestic of instruments and the results were disastrous to all within earshot.
After having his recorder privileges revoked and his anger management issues dealt with, Denno soon moved onto the keyboard. Despite demonstrating promise in his execution of chopsticks and greensleeves, he was soon to realise he was as aurally offensive on the keyboard as he was with the recorder and at 10 he was back to the drawing board.
A brief affair with the drums and a sporting career that saw him appear at and win several national titles filled the teenage years of Denno's life and his musicianship suffered as a result. Until he picked up and started playing guitar at age 17.
A few bands of varying genres followed; ranging from acoustic comedy acts where he dressed as a Mexican and sung about tacos... to death metal acts singing about unintelligibility. A number of years later and numerous live performances under his belt, Denno's interest was starting to fade and he was looking for a new calling in music. After failing with a banjo and swallowing a harmonica, he decided either a kazoo or turntables were the answer. Not ready for the drug abuse and alcohol fueled orgies that plague so many in the professional kazoo circuit, Denno opted for the tea tottling lifestyle of a hip hop DJ.
And this brings us to the present time, where Denno is DJing for two hip hop acts, doing solo performances and working on his first two hip hop releases. 2007 is going to be a big year for Denno's solo career, Homebrand and Bukkcity. With all 3 riding on the success of 07 releases there should be many opportunities to see him perform live.
okay.. third person is starting to get annoying..
I have worked with artists from around the country and the globe and am keen to keep networking. If anyone needs scratches on a track, production, beats, mixtapes presented or whatever, just hit me up. I am also available for events, parties, weddings, you name it and I'll play it to whatever musical tastes are requested.
During my spare time I enjoy the following activities
- baking scones, cross stitch, lawn bowls, browsing the haberdashery section of Myers, curling, floral art, calculus and morris dancing. For those unfamiliar with Morris Dancing, its origings have been lost in history, but prevalent opinion is that Morris is based in pre-Christian fertility or luck bringing ceremonies. Over time, these 'pagan' dances were assimilated by the church (first the Catholic, then the Protestant) and by the1500s Morris was being performed for Easter, May Day and other parish feasts to help rise funds for the local church. Other opinions are that it is an excuse to dress like a ponce and prance around like a fairy.
here is a photo of me doing the morris dance.
the braces assist in preventing my pantaloons from falling. Everything else is purely decorative.
