The BopCats was formed in the late 70’s during the rockabilly boom in Finland. In 1979 it started as a band of 5 men, Make Lemola, Hara Pöyhiä, Taape Pöntinen, Utsi Uusitalo and Mico Jansson, Lemola however resigned the band after some months. Soon in 1981 the drummer Taape was replaced by Ari Eerola who has played with the BopCats ever since. Many different formations were tried as years passed and the band had gigs in various places in Finland and Sweden becoming well known of it’s swinging and rhythmic rockabilly performing. Since 2001 the band experienced a rebirth as a bass player Don Carlos joined the band. Also lately occasionally Juho Hurskainen joines the band with his amazing saxophone skills. Today still having a fresh touch to rockabilly the band performs mainly with the formation of Utsi, Mico, Ari and Don Carlos.
