"the truth is we all love conflict in some form. we love to hate. to stop a war in one place to declare it in another place under our own interest. we say: we must wipe out poverty! we must fight hunger! we campaign & challange & defeat & detroy. any call for world peace is a grandiose lie. a pretty digestible lie, but a lie none-the-less. just another excuse to keep fighting. we love war, starvation, plagues, disease, disasters; they fast-track us into a psuedo-enlightened state. it's the mark of a young soul to try and fix the world, to try and save anyone from their ration of misery, just so we feel like a real hero.
forest fires, oil spills, serial killers, terrorist, dictators, and god how we love the television and it's news. the pictures of people lined up beside an open grave. oh the glossy magazine photos of more everyday people torn to bloody shreds. freeway pile-ups, pollution, mudslides, global warming, endangered species; it speeds up our suffering and gives us a purpose, lets face it we are all hypocrates, sociopaths, and complete fools. here today, gone tomorrw."-palanuik
