ROCK-N-ROLL 4 THE SOUL!!!

About Me

Like a power surge to the soul, the songs created by Matthew King for his solo debut Lost Super Heaven marks a new high point for this captivating and passionate songwriter.
In a music world constantly looking for a new voice, Matthew King represents the singer-songwriter for the modern music lover. Wearing his influences on his sleeve like a badge of honor, King has taken his love for music past and present to find and create his own voice. He has effectively been able to merge punk rock with a singer-songwriter mentality. On his forthcoming solo album, this Maryland-raised artist delivers an edge without being trendy.
A self-taught musician who grew-up listening to U2, Paul Simon, R.E.M., the Sex Pistols and whatever else he could get his hands on. "Music became a full on addiction, I grew up in an environment where there wasn't much to do, all I did was listen to music, drink and write" says King, who was unaware that this combination would be the catalyst for his foray into songwriting.
Matthew began his music career fronting the rock act Attica Fix. The band performed at local bars and college events in and around Salisbury, MD while King pursued a teaching degree at Salisbury University. "We had a ritual that if we werent playing we were going out to see bands in the area perform" says King. Matthew became obsessed with becoming a better songwriter and reaching his local influences level of success. King declares "Jimmies Chicken Shack, Dead City Radio and SR-71, these guys taught me music 101, they did it the way your suppose to, so I followed their lead". A chance encounter with the lead singer of one of those bands opened his stage up to Matthew one evening. That one night has turned into a eight year stint with singer/songwriter Paul Lewis.
King seized the opportunity from roadie to guitar player and backup vocals from bar fights to being homeless to car accidents. Matthew learned what an actual indie touring musicians life can entail. "In spite of all that I still wanted to be a musician and then I knew 100% that this is what I should be doing" reveals Matthew.
After returning home from life on the road King spent his days writing new songs and performing solo shows around the area. "For the first time in my life I realized that I had something to say and the music is the vehicle that allows me to connect with the listener" King advocates. After taking advice from Lewis, King decided to officially pursue a solo career.
Currently King is in the studio finalizing the tracks for Lost Super Heaven. Co-producing the album is Paul Lewis, Marco Riva and King himself. "People have approached me and automatically assume the title is about God or religion. It's about faith and knowing what's important in our lives. We all at some point or another lose our way, this album is about whether or not you find your way back" expresses King.
A promising new voice Matthew is a songwriter who uses his guitar, vocals and the spirit of punk to infuse his metaphoric lyrics that leave you asking questions rather than delivering answers. "Its all relative, if a guitar plays in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?", King proclaims, "We'll see".
