Barcelonas metalnoise band Embryonic was formed in 1998 by guitarist Substance who was a little tired of being in a black metal band and was looking for something more exciting to play. After a few months without a proper singer vocalist/screamer Gravity joined them.
Then their moniker was Alien Embryo in a Jar, a perfect name according to that 90s alien/x-files/cyber influenced period. They would play a mixture of swedish death metal, Fear Factory-esque riffs and eerie keyboards.
In 2000 after some line-up changes, drummer Fragment came to scene bringing fresh air to Embryonics music and pushing the songwriting to a more technical level. The band got rid off the keyboards too and 2 years later they recorded Seventh Wave, a demo that had good reviews.
After that recording Embryonic spent about 2 years doing very little, lost in a period full of laziness and discontent that ended up with the sad loss of former bass player and dynamics master Device.
But in early 2005 the band raised again with kick ass new songs and a new bassist, the noisemonger known as Pulse, who used to play in Substances electronic/noise/blackmetal sideproject Liquidthorn.
Embryonic are influenced by countless bands, books, movies, sex positions, drugs and feelings and their songs tend to be extreme, catchy, noisy and fresh.
Once Embryonic music was described as In Flames flirting with Muse and being brutally fucked by a noisecore band.
So far, we think its quite accurate.
