LUKA EVANGELISTA, conosciuto anche con lo pseudonimo di LUKE PETERSON, nasce a Formia il 18 Febbraio 1988 ma cresce e vive tuttora a Gaeta, piccola cittadina del litorale sud-pontino. Il suo primo approccio con la musica è senza dubbio influenzato dall’attività di dj del fratello Benedetto (Benny Dj) che, nel pieno degli anni ’90, suona e miscela i pezzi dance-commerciali più forti e ballati del momento. Il richiamo per la musica dance-house è sempre più forte e presente: di lì a poco si manifesterà in maniera netta e cristallina.I primi “sintomi” di house mania si manifestano durante le prime feste scolastiche, alle quali partecipa solo come semplice studente. Durante le varie matricolette e mak p passa la maggior parte del tempo ad osservare il dj di turno gestire la propria consolle e soprattutto ad ascoltare i dischi che, miscelati, fluiscono nel suo animo come un continuo d’emozioni, come un discorso, che non è mai banalmente composto solo da un pezzo dopo l’altro ma che assume connotati e valori ben più profondi. La passione per questa musica lo investe come un fiume in piena. Non esita un solo secondo a chiedere “aiuto” al fratello che, prontamente, comincia a fargli assaggiare un giradischi, un cdj, un mixer, il pitch, la battuta, gli illustra l’essenzialità del saper toccare un vinile, dell’avere orecchio: gli si aprono le porte di un mondo tutto nuovo, che assume un’importanza incredibile. Capisce così di voler trasformare la sua passione in un lavoro, inizia a rigirarsi tra le dita un sogno: diventare dj, far sognare la gente con la musica, quella scelta da lui, e senza aspettare si tira su le maniche e inizia la magia. I primi tempi sono difficili: c’è da conoscere gente; c’è da trovare l’occasione; c’è da realizzare un sogno che in troppi credono sia solo un passatempo; c’è da dimostrare qualcosa a qualcuno e c’è da guadagnare qualcosa; ci sono i momenti di sconforto e quelli di estasi, quando vedi quel mare che danza compatto al suono della tua musica. Nel suo lungo, travagliato e non ancora terminato cammino verso il djing non c’è solo questo, c’è la vita d’ogni giorno. La musica però c’è sempre, unica costante in un’equazione che cambia troppo spesso e senza permesso. Inizialmente è affascinato dalla vera house, quella che prende vita dalle idee di artisti “classici” quali Todd Terry, MAW, Dennis Ferrer, Dave Morales, Marshall Jefferson, Quentin Harris, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries, Claudio Coccoluto (e tanti altri) e che è cantata ed impreziosita dalle voci di Michelle Weeks, Tara McDonald, Barbara Tucker, Moloko, Kathy e Jocelyn Brown, Steve Edwards, Ce Ce Rogers, Terra Deva e non solo. In seguito, l’incontro con Gaetano Magliozzi (amico e collega) e la scoperta dei particolari gusti musicali di un altro compagno, Fabrizio Nocella, gli aprono gli occhi davanti ad un altro genere: l’elettronica e la minimal. Approfondisce artisti che sentiva solo nominare: su tutti Trentemoller, Alex Under, Luca Bacchetti, Lucio Aquilina, Richie Hawtin e Marco Carola, senza dimenticare i vari Loco Dice, Massi Dl, Gaetano Parisio, Rino Cerrone, Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vath, Mauro Picotto, Sebastian Leger etc... L’ancor giovane carriera da dj fino ad ora ha visto la sua partecipazione in vari locali e disco bar della zona, tra cui Lido “La Perla”(Gaeta), Christian Bar(Gaeta), Marechiaro Charmed(Gaeta), Beach Disco Club(Terracina), UMM Cafè(Gaeta), nonchè varie matricolette, mak p e feste sulla spiaggia che lo hanno visto collaborare con varie personalità del campo. Selezione musicale e stile gli permettono di svariare tra più generi, e fanno sì che il suo dj set sia strettamente personale, unico e quindi, senza dubbio originale, caratterizzato da sonorità d’avanguardia ed impreziosito con quel pizzico di “old & classic” e di voci che non guastano assolutamente, anzi, non rendono i suoi mix monotoni e scontati. I suoi prossimi progetti, oltre a riguardare un sempre crescente numero di serate, sono focalizzati su una “sfida” chiamata produzione: potrebbe essere una marcia in più alla realizzazione del suo sogno. ***

Luka Evangelista also known as LUKE PETERSON, was born in 1988 in Formia but he lives in Gaeta, a little town on the south coast of Lazio. His first approach to music is undoubtedly influenced by dj activity of his brother Benny who, in 90s, played and mixed the most famous dance-song of the time. The love for dance-house music becomes stronger and stronger; later it will become very clear and evident. When Luka was a student, he already showed the first symptoms of dance mania in school parties. There he spent the all time observing the dj working at his console and above all listening to the records. Those were mixed in such a way that they enter his soul with emotions, not just as a simple sequence of songs but assuming values with a deep meaning. The passion for this kind of music overwhelms him as a river in flood. He asks his brother for help and Benny, immediately, lets him try his first turntable, cdj, mixer, pitch and beat. Benny teaches him how a vinyl has to be touched and how to have ear for music. A whole new world is opened for Luka and it assumes an incredible importance. He understands that he wants to transform his passion into work. He begins to dream to become a DJ, make people dream with his music, the music chosen by him, and so the magic starts. The beginning is difficult: you need to meet people, you need to find the right occasions, you need to make a dream come true when many others people think it’s only a leisure time activity: there’s something to prove and something to earn. There are moments of happiness, moments of sadness or ecstasy when you see the crowd of people dancing at the sound of your music. But there is not only this towards the long, difficult and interminable path of Djing, there is every day life. Music is always there, the one constant thing in a world which changes very often without permission. Initially, Luka is fascinated by the real house which takes life from the ideas of “classical artists such as Todd Terry, MAW, Dennis Ferrer, Dave Morales, Marshall Jefferson, Roger Sanchez, Quentin Harris, Kerri Chandler, Tony Humphries, Claudio Coccoluto (and many others) and which is sung and enriched by the voice of Michelle Weeks, Tara McDonald, Barbara Tucker, Moloko, Kathy and Jocelyn Brown, Steve Edwards, Ce Ce Rogers, Terra Deva and not only. Later the meeting with Gaetano Magliozzi (friend and colleague) and the discovery of the particular musical tastes of another friend, Fabrizio Nocella, open his eyes in front of another kind of music: electronic and minimal. He studies in detail some artists he had only heard of: above all Trentemoller, Alex Under, Luca Bacchetti, Lucio Aquilina, Richie Hawtin and Marco Carola, without forgetting Loco Dice, Massi DL, Gaetano Parisio, Rino Cerrone, Ricardo Villalobos, Sven Vath, Mauro Picotto, Sebastian Leger etc. Even if he is very young and his career has just started, he has already worked in various discos and clubs in his area such as Lido “La Perla”, Christian Bar, Marechiaro Charmed, Beach Disco Club, UMM Cafè and also in school and beach parties. He also worked together with famous personalities of the musical world. Individual music selection and style allow him to use different genres and make his dj set very personal, unique and, without doubts, original. It’s characterised by avant-garde sounds and enriched by a pinch of “old & classic” with voices that make his mix really unusual and new. Luka’s next plans are focussed on a new challenge called “production” and of course on an increasing number of soirées: it might be a further step to the realisation of his “big dream" ***
