Vinyl vs. CDs? It's 2007, get over it.

About Me

I got my start back in 1992 after being exposed to what was then known as Confettis Night Club. I remember hearing The Revolting Cocks "Beers, Steers and Queers" playing at an ear-bleeding volume and thinking to myself, "This is what I want to do....be a DJ".I started collecting vinyl and practiced on whatever I could get my hands on, which included a $20 Radioshack mixer, 2 belt drive turntables (1 with pitch control!) and a tape deck. I spent every extra dollar on records and every extra waking moment practicing. My diverse musical tastes led to an eclectic playing style that included New Wave, Industrial, Hip-Hop, Techno, Trip-Hop, House, Breakbeats and even Disco. In 1994 I moved to Seattle and was immersed in the house music scene. I found a cheap place to lay my head at night, a part time job and was able to open my own record store in less than a year. Through the record store I met some great people who showed the meaning of TRUE FRIENDS. Seattle also introduced me to some incredible DJs who I was fortunate enough to share the decks with: Rick Preston, Spun, Jon Lemmon, Matt Corwine, Harry Who, T-Bone and Jacob London* (Bob and Dave, you know what * means). In 1997 I moved back to Portland and found myself a stranger in my own home town, at least as far as the house scene was concerned. After 9 years I had all but given up being a DJ. In 2006 I was given an opportunity to take over Sunday nights at Noir and with the help of my new found friend Matt Rock, we made a name for ourselves for consistently bringing brand new music and always putting on a quality show with great sound and great local and national DJ's. Thanks Matt!In the last few years I have been focusing on building an extensive music library of deep house, funky house, tech house and minimal techno. I have also recently turned my attention to writing music and hope to have releases out by the end of 2007. Check out the tracks in my player, your feedback is appreciated.
