Born prematurely, at a measly 4 pounds on April 4th, 1985, Eric "Victory" Johnson was a FIGHTER! Not only did he overcome the obstacle of doctors questioning his ability to breathe on his own, just three years later, he and his family, which consisted of both parents and three elder siblings, were all victims of a MASSIVE house fire. Needless to say, he SURVIVED! Never seeing either one of them again, except his oldest brother, he knew that he was special.
Adopted by his grandparents, struggling to find his identity and make his mark in the world, he found a passion for music. Starting with the love of the sound of the accoustic guitar. He began pretending to play one around the house, hoping that one day his fingers would actually strum real strings.
Moving along, around the young, tender age of 8, he began listening at the door of his brother's room, where he would hear him listening to "Rap" music, reciting words and "freestyling" to instrumental beats with friends. At that point, he realized that was his strongest passion. Music! Hip-Hop music!
Having said that, by the time he reached the eighth grade, "Turbulence," ("Victory's" stage name at the time), had already made a name for himself around school as the best freestyler!
His reputation carried on into his high school years, competing against upper-classmen, and destroying their confidence to even speak after him. "You should've seen how the whole school gathered around he and his crew! It was a site to see: one that I'll never forget," testified a former classmate!
I'm sure you've all heard the saying "some things just never change," well, when it comes to holding a crowd and demanding attention, that statement couldn't be any more true.
By the time he realized his talent and how much it was blossoming, he decided that he needed a new name: something that described him, his personality, who he was, and what he stood for. Feeling as if he had persevered through many opposing forces, it only made sense that he presented himself to the world as "Victory".
Now it was time to make his mark, so he and his best friend, Shannon "Speed," formed a group and called themselves "Trama". Later in the year of 2001, they added two new members: one of which is still a part of the group, now known as Kataztro$fee! R&b sensation, Keitrick "K-Smoove" Morris. "Everytime the three of them put their genious together on the same track, it's a hit!" "A smash hit," commented Ryan Mitchell, a long time friend and self acclaimed number one fan, when interviewed. "They're special," he carried on. "Just listen to em, they got they own sound, and style: that's what the people want to hear and see!"
After graduating high school in May of 2003, once again, Eric struggled to find who he was, but this time, as an adult. Continuing to channel his anger and stress through music, he became a legend in Fort Worth neighborhoods, for releasing the classic demo album "Drop em like rain," of which he debut his producing talent on seven tracks. Afterwards, he executive produced Speed's first album, which sounded great and record sales would agree. Then, in 2004, he released another album, "Bak at it." This soul-filled, album showed the maturity in his life, as a man from a boy.
Now, after a four year break from putting anything out, HE IS BACK AT IT AGAIN! This time, he decided to have fun with his music, like he did on his first project. "I put my life in this album. Everything that you hear on this one is the last few years of my life. My music is real. I learned that I have a lot of different personalities, which is why I can relate to everybody going through all types of things. People feel my music because I speak about real life situations."
"Sometimes I feel young, and sexy. Those are the times that I want to go out, party, have fun, and just do me. Other times I feel spiritual, grown, and soulful. These are the times that I'm responsible and feel like I need to save the world from it's lack of knowledge, heartaches, and pain. That's why I'm releasing a double disk with two different feels of music. "Young, sexy," will put you in the mood to party, have fun, and feel good about yourself. Spiritual, Grown, & Soul-FULL," will make you want to get your life together and make those changes that you've been needing to make, but have been putting off, for what ever reason."
Finally, here it is: the year of Victory! With three record labels, 5 untamed artists(not including himself), a website, and many more future business ventures, including a clothing line, a family entertainment center, and stage plays, it's safe to say that this guy has a bright future. Be prepared to see and or hear A LOT from him for many years to come!
