So it goes a little something like this.........Ray was born 4 years before me, he checked out the earth first, fifteen hundred and forty three days before my birth. Who are we? The Buckle Bros. 2 brothas who are actually brothers from the same biological Mother. Forced to play DJ at his parents parties at a young age Ray was exposed to a deadly case of vinylitis in 1979 when he was cut but a sharp 45. Over the next 4 years he became consumed by a desire to collect and play any record he could get his hands on. Now armed with 2 mix-match turntables and a Radio Shack mixer he soon took on the moniker of The Original Cutmaster Ray. Rockin parties, beat juggling and scratching was how he fulfilled his carnivorous urges. Ray soon shortened his moniker and changed his name to DJ Ray. In 1988 after years of searching for the perfect partner DJ Ray rummaging through mix tapes heard an MC on one of the tapes delivering a style he had never heard before. To his surprise it was his own brother. Ray did not understand How could this be, he asked himself. It was Mondo all along, he was the chosen one. You see Mondo was already in a crew writing, rappin and dancing, but he too also knew his destiny could not be denied. So in December of 1988 the Buckle Bros. made it official. They would record together forever. After a couple of years and 70-80 tracks, the Bros. would soon begin to release a series of street mix tapes passed out for free to anyone who would listen. The Bros. produced songs for other groups and worked 9 to 5 gigs to make ends meet. They basically worked 2 jobs, except one of the jobs was worked undercover as the dopest Hip Hop group no one had ever heard of. After years of guest appearances, producing beats and doing shows here and there, the Buckle Bros. decided to share with the rest of the world what they had created. In 2000 the underground classic, Super B-Boy was released as a vinyl maxi single under the name of B-Boy Plantation. After more producing, more shows and a very long look in the mirror. The dynamic duo decided to fight crime on their own terms with the release of Underground Superstars. To be continued
