... pianist and dulcimer player with jazz, rock, dub, african, indian and medieval groups, and with his own group, Myriad (which features Raph Mizraki on basses, Chris Egan on Saxes, Sean Willmott on drums). He trained in Indian classical music, (tabla with pt Sharda Sahai, Benares gharana, and santoor with Kiranpal Singh) and plays the hammered dulcimer with UK based medieval group Daughters of Elvin.
He has written music for theatre and dance companies (London Bubble: Daksha Sheth Dance Co from South India) and for films ( Mudra Mix dir; Kamini Gupta) and has played for years with Harry Fulcher who runs Limbic System, one of the most kickass fusion bands in the UK ( think Weather Report meets Oregon by way of Bugge Wesseltoft). Dhevdhas has toured throughout Europe, Africa and India, and done the odd stint with John Etheridge, Jim Mullen, Mervyn Afrika, Jabula Spear, Suns of Arqa, Ujamaa, Asima, Nana Tsiboe, Don Rendell and Konarak Reddy, to name a few.
He says ; "...Keith Jarrett, Doctors of Madness, Hari Prasad Chaurasia, JS Bach, Zakir Hussein, Chick Corea, Hugh Masekela, Jan Garbarek, Gregorian Chants, Frank Zappa, Airto Moreira, Jason Rebello, Gustav Mahler, Angela Hewitt, Joe Zawinul, Hector Berlioz, Tyagaraja, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock, Shivkumar Sharma, Artur Rubinstein, Miles Davis, Bob Marley, Annie Lennox, The Band, and more recently, Richard Bona, are a few of the culprits who have, in the language of that great mystic, George Dubya, inevitangibly infectuenced me.
