I am trying this diet. Read the book and it was FUNNY!
I've gained weight over the years and I'm just sick of feeling like crap. I've also received some not-so-good warnings from my doctor about needing to lose weight. So, in an effort to lose weight by sticking with a plan, I've started this My Space page. Some of my My Space friends are also dieting with me, some are just supporting the effort by reading the blog and giving me a nudge from time to time to make sure I don't slack off! In return I support them, chat, and report on my progress. Hopefully I entertain from time to time as well.
I get a good amount of friend requests and messages and try to get to them as best I can. Below are some common questions I get that may give you some answers:
Who are you?I'm Mary. How y'all doin'?
Do you think I'm fat?
I wouldn't ask someone if they think I'm fat, so please don't ask me. I think
I'm overweight, but we all have to decide what we are comfortable with for ourselves.
If I friend requested you IT IS NOT BECAUSE I THINK
YOU ARE FAT! I look at profiles, and if something strikes me, I friend request.
Simple as that. I'm looking for support and friends here, and will be happy
to provide both to those who ask as well.
What is this diet all about?
This is a tough question to answer because, though the book is elegantly simple,
the concepts are complex. Unlike any other diet I've been on (including weight
watchers and nutrisystem) this one works to get you to reevaluate the role of
food in your life and help you make a lifestyle change. In my opinion, that's
the true value of it. It is a huge added bonus that the diet in it actually
works as well. The whole thing is very motivating and really helps to boost
esteem. Other than the psychological part the book's diet stresses veggies and
proteins, encouraging you to try different foods to keep things interesting,
and to focus on the things you enjoy to help you stick with it.
Have you lost weight?
Yes. About 30 pounds in a little over 2 months. I thought I only wanted to
lose 35 total, but seeing where I am now, I realize I had more to lose than
I thought.
Do I have to exercise?
I really haven't, but when I did I did lose a little faster.
If you want more information on the diet, their website is www.FoundationDiet.com . There is a Foundation Diet Blog on the site that has lots of info on the diet. I haven't been on it long, but you can ask me questions too.
I bought my copy on Amazon.com . There are also used and new copies available on Ebay .
