Perhaps one of the most versatile artists of elenco Cuban of jazz in Spain is Rafa Garcés. Been born in Havana (Cuba), son of a professor of classic piano, next to his brother, began his formation to very short age. Later, accompanying the international Maggie Carles, they participate in the Festival the International of Jazz of Havana, (1991), as well as of artistic tours in Ecuador and Korea of the North. 1992, it enters to comprise of the band of the most representative singer of the Cuban Feeling, Omara Portuondo, where it ends up making the work of pianist, director and arreglista, participating in many tours by Cuba, Portugal and Spain. It is in this last tour where estableciéndote in Spain decides to finalize its contract with the artist definitively. Since then, it has participated in direct and recordings of many artists of the Spanish musical panorama, in which it is possible to emphasize, Tree-lined avenue (20 Anniversary), Pedro Ricardo Miño (Piano with Duende, Flamenco Biennial 2004), Concerts Real Nights of the Palace with an own spectacle, to which it denominated “Cubania”, Convention Master Class de Adagio S.A., Master Class Conservatory of Reus (Tarragona), and a very long etc. Also it has made several own projects of Jazz and Cuban folk music. The first, “Racially mixed Latin Jazz”, with which “Mestization” recorded a scale model in which Luis Chacón, Pablo Zapata and Rosa participated musical like Jose Dominguez. With this project different performances like the participation were made in the Festival from Jazz of Lakes (Lakes, Portugal), in Clubs de Jazz like the Cuvi Cheker (Jaén), Power station (Utrera), etc…. in the Festival of Contemporary Music of the University the International of Andalusia, Festival of Jazz in the Province of Seville, 23º Festival the International of Jazz of Granada (where they obtained the prize to the best group Andalusian), etc…. The development of the work, the experience, and the access to the necessities of the Spanish jazzistico public has been transforming the original idea of Native Cuban Cuartet, in project “RAFA GARCES & NATIVE CUBAN JAZZ” At the moment it has a school of jazz in Seville (Spain), alternated his artistic life with the formation, in addition to have distributed courses in other places like Masters classes distributed in the conservatory of Reus (Tarragona), etc….
