Work hard and be nice.

About Me

My name is Mark, I'm in a band called Second Person and I write music for films and television as well as working as a producer. I've scored the music for a few films that have been to cinema, including one which is being released later this year. I tutor kids with various learning difficulties one day a week - although I find myself having less and less time to do this sadly.
I started studying nuclear/astro physics at university but realised that all I wanted to do was make music. I switched to studying film production/anthropology, which I enjoyed a whole lot more and it gave me plenty of time to work on music. Around the same time I met a singer/song-writer called Julia Johnson who had one of the most amazing voices I'd ever heard. We collaborated on a few songs, decided to form what is now Second Person and in the process became best friends.
I like going out with friends for dinner: the Troubadour is a favourite - I actually think I might be addicted as it's not uncommon for me to end up there as much as three times a day. I enjoy live music: going to and performing gigs is a passion. Our band plays in London from time to time, between recording, which is always fun. I try to get to Glastonbury and Reading each year as there is no substitue for mud and music.
I was born in South Africa, but moved here when I was about 6 (no accent left), and I like chocolate ice cream.
I often use my blog to put up a diary of recording and general stuff, so long as there's nothing too personal then I usually make it available for my friends to see.

My Interests

Music, Sleeping, Travelling, Snowboarding, Seeing my friends, Films, Sailing, Art, Reading (I'm still new to this one, who knew it could be so good?), going to and performing live gigs.
