ECHOBLISS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"ECHOBLISS"
A word of warning: There will be no hating here, no foul language, inuendos, trash talking or the like. I want this to be a clean site all can enjoy. Not to mention the fact that what is put on this site reflects back on me. So if you do try and post any of that crap on here not only will your comment be deleted but if you don't stop you'll be deleted from the friends list and blocked.... Enough said about that..
I'm looking to meet any awesome local bands- no matter what the genre (as long as it doesn't involve any of that crap mentioned above! haha), venues, promoters, other great music sites, and fans of local music!! And also any bands who would love to play in the area!
BRINA- I personally enjoy music of all kinds except for rap. Mostly because I can't understand it, the same with much of the screaming. There is some screamo I like if there is singing included. Or used as an accent.. (don't know what I mean.. check out Eyes Catch Fire and Faith Through Fear ) If I don't know what I'm jamming to, I don't like it haha.. and songs with foul language or sexual inuendos..
RENEE-

Every month I will be interviewing 3 bands and one other (either a music site, promoter, production/label, or venue) that will be featured here on the main page for that month.AND NOW I'M DOING AN INTERVIEW OF ONE VERY DEDICATED FAN OF THE LOCAL SCENE!!
JUNE INTERVIEWS!!

4. What have been some of your favorite shows you've gone to locally?
My absolute favorite show was march 9, Treaty of Paris, The Evening Broadcast, Atlas On Display, and jVA, at sokol underground.
5. What would be your ultimate concert lineup?
Get Down, Treaty of Paris, Silverstein, Bayside, All Time Low, is there a limit here?, The Academy Is.., okay, im done
6. What do you think of the local scene?
I love our local scene here, the bands are amazing. and fun to talk with and stuff
7. What would you like to see happen with the local scene?
I like it the way it is,
the biggest thing id like to see is Jake and me's band get into it. mhmmmmm
8. I personally know you are a huge supporter of local music but why don't you tell the others what you do to help support our scene?
i go to shows, alot, mostly Get Down shows, cuz, i know them really well, but, dorp me an add and ill go to yours tooo.
9. It's been a pretty big topic lately. And that is the fight to keep Omaha an all ages city for venues. What are your views on that?
i totaly support this, sure, maybe there is alchohol at some, but, dont sell it to the kiddos with the X and its all good
10. Many people today can be said to be music fans, just from listening to cds or the radio. But being a supporter of the live scene is so different! What is your favorite part of going out to the shows and seeing them live?
i like the way they feel, its so different, and hanging out with your freinds while our their, thats amazing. Live music owns recordings
11. Do you have any crazy, fun, or funny stories that have happened at shows you've gone too?
Ha, every show i go to is crazy fun, the last one i went to with Megan though, me ad my cousin ended up pouring my Dew all over eachother, it was pretty intense, she started it.
12. What advice would you give a band just coming out on the scene- (and you're in a unique position here as being a fan and knowing what you'd like to see)?
Honestly, just be yourselves up there, you dont have to try overly hard to get the crowd going, i like talking between songs, but not a ton, then it just gets annoying
13. And finally, what shows are you excited about that your'e going to the next couple of months?
well, june 13, get Down is playing, i think its their only show before they go on tour, June 15 at House of Bricks in Des Moines, Valencia is playing with Treaty of Paris and Finding The Warren, and im gonna see about going to that one, gosh, theres so many more.
BANDS
SUGAR FREE SATIRE
1. What's your band name, and where are you from?
We are Sugar Free Satire from Omaha, Nebraska
2. Who are the members and what do they do?
Lucky is the Lead Singer/Rhythm Guitar/Keys
Benn is the Bassist
Andy is the Lead Guitarist/Back-up Vocals
Tom is the Drummer
3. How did you decide on your band name?
Our former drummer actually came up with the name about 3 years ago and we just kind of stuck with it.
4. What is your favorite show you've played?
Our favorite show we've played is definately one we play on may 25th this year is Battle Of The Bands for Standby Records it was amazing. Our fans are amazing and really helped us move on to the finals.
5. How about your favorite song to play?
Right now our current favorite song to play would have to be our new single "Never Knew". Or "Lady Killer" because the fans seem to love that and they really get into it so its always fun.
6. If you could play a show with any band in the world
who would you choose?
I think we would all choose different bands but one band we can all agree on is Blink 182 even though they dont technically exist anymore it would be pretty amazing to play a show with them.
7. Who have you been compared to?
We've been compared to Paramore a lot for some reason but we dont really like being compared to them just because we have a girl singer. They're an extremely good band and in our opinion there is no comparison.
8. Where would you like to play?
Quest Center is our ultimate dream. We would basically do anything in our power to play there.
9. Why did you decide to start playing music?
We live it, sleep it, eat it, everything. It's our passion its just a love and to be able to play what you love with people with people you love is really all you could ever ask for as a musician.
10. How did the band come together?
Lucky is actually the only original member of sfs. Then Benn came along and it was a 3 piece band with our former drummer Derek Matthews. Then Lucky and Andy met and decided to put Andy in the band. Later Derek quit the band due to musical differences and thats how we came about to getting Tom as our drummer and were more than happy that it is the way it is now. We just know this is how it was meant to be.
11. What's your favorite part of being in a band?
Hearing people singing songs that you wrote. Or seeing people you dont even know wearing a t-shirt of your band is amazing. It's by far one of the greatest feelings in the world.
12. When you're not involved in music what do you like to do?
Usually just hanging out doing what any normal high-school kids would do. We're all pretty social so talk to us. :)
13. Do you have a funny or crazy story you'd like to share with us?
There are many funny stories to tell but one of my favorites (Lucky) is when we told Benn he was kicked out of the band because we were sick of him. The look on his face was sooo funny. He was completely serious and looked like tears were about to just come streaming down his face and then we just busted out laughing and he pretty much attacked us. It was a great moment. But were all pretty funny kids so the 4 insane people in one band is just a recipe for laughs. Its always a good time when hanging out with us.
14. Are you guys going on tour anytime soon?
We are actually hoping to go on tour next summer hopefully. It will be the end of Andys senior year and the start of the rest of ours so were hoping for a regional tour so be on the look out.

Mike Love - Guitar/Vocals
John Westley Love - Drums
Brock Raum - Bass/Vocals
Thomas Macy Currie - Gutiar/Vocals

Brock and I (Andrew) were working at Runza in Hebron one day, and Brock just had it come to him spur of the moment, and we all ok'd it.
4. What is your favorite show you've played?
Granada eXposure event in September 2006. This was our first show at a venue. But there were 300 kids, and we had a real good time.
5. How about your favorite song to play?
She Smiles In Return
6. If you could play a show with any band in the world
who would you choose?
Yeesh. Brand New or Fall Out Boy
7. Who have you been compared to?
Motion City Soundtrack
8. Where would you like to play?
Everywhere. Preferably the Super Bowl w/Ashlee Simpson.
9. Why did you decide to start playing music?
We all have had music in our lives someway or another from our parents and friends. It's just what is natural to us.
10. How did the band come together?
Back in the day, there used to be a metal band which Brock and Tom used to play in. Andrew joined for a little while at the end, but it finally crashed and burned. Then the people left around from the band thought we should start a new one with a new style. After heavy work through a year and then adding Mike Love and John Love, LC is what it is today.
11. What's your favorite part of being in a band?
The crowd singing to us.
12. When you're not involved in music what do you like to do?
Nintendo Wii or Xbox360
13. Do you have a funny or crazy story you'd like to share with us?
Too many. Anything involving Brett Ketter of 0 For 7.
14. Are you guys going on tour anytime soon?
Um, not really. We will be playing some random spots here and there. We do want to get out of NE and do some shows other places. You will have to just stay tuned for now, we may have a weekend stint going from place to place, we will just have to see. :)
GET DOWN!
1. What's your band name, and where are you from?
We are Get Down! and we are from Omaha, Nebraska.
2. Who are the members and what do they do?
Tristan- Bass/Lead Vocals
Nick- Guitar
Alex- Guitar
Drew- Drums/Backing Vocals
3. How did you decide on your band name?
We were in a car, and we all decided the band name we had before was terrible, and we wanted the name to reflect us as people. If you see us live, you know how we do. Hahaha.
4. What is your favorite show you've played?
As far as crowd goes, we always have a lot of fun playing house parties because people are always there to have a good time and everyone gets into it and dances and has a good time. And it is easier to meet people and get to know them better. We’ve also had the chance to play with a lot of really great bands, our show with Socratic, You Me And Everyone We Know, and Say No More was a lot of fun, all of the bands were super nice and really good. We can’t wait to play with those dudes again.
5. How about your favorite song to play?
Usually, whichever song is our newest, just because it’s fresh. We haven’t really gotten to the point where we can just play them all and really pick a favorite. We’ve been too busy writing new ones for our EP. An Evening Out With Busta Mooney is a band favorite, though.
6. If you could play a show with any band in the world
who would you choose?
Drew would pick Thursday, Nick would pick Four Year Strong (since we’ve already played with the JV All*Stars), Alex would pick Hit The Lights, and Tristan would choose Further Seems Forever. Collectively, we’d all probably agree on Saves The Day because they’ve been a huge influence on all of us.
7. Who have you been compared to?
Probably the best comparison was our friend Zach of The Zach Heath ( http://www. myspace. com/thezachheath ) who suggested we re-name our band “Spinalfield†– part Spitalfield, part Spinal Tap.
8. Where would you like to play?
Red Rocks Ampitheatre in Denver is the coolest venue in the world. Otherwise there’s a long list of sweet places we’d love to play someday. Basically anywhere and everywhere that will have us.
9. Why did you decide to start playing music?
Drew- It was because I lived in a small town and going to see local bands was one of the only things to do. I’d been listening to New Found Glory, Saves The Day, MxPx, Hot Rod Circuit, The Get Up Kids, and all of these bands. And then one of my friends told me to come along to this little venue called Circle B and watch some local bands. And all of a sudden there were these high school kids doing the same thing. So I went home and started teaching myself drums and guitar.
Nick- My cousin was a big influence on me, I would see his band play and it looked like he was having fun so that’s the main reason why I do it.
Alex- It looked like fun.
Tristan- I realized I was too scrawny to play sports and I wanted a girlfriend so I picked up a guitar.
10. How did the band come together?
Nick and Tristan were in a band called Edmonton together, and Alex was basically their merch guy for just about every show. Nick and Tristan joined Rochester after Edmonton disbanded. Nick left Rochester, and Drew joined a few months later. After that band broke up, Nick and Tristan joined a band called The Evening Broadcast. Alex started playing guitar with them after their guitarist/synth player left. Then Drew filled in drums for a couple of shows after their drummer left. That band technically played two shows as “Get Down!†but we went through some lineup changes and this is really the only lineup that we actually consider to be “Get Down!,†those first two shows were really Evening Broadcast shows.
11. What's your favorite part of being in a band?
Getting in shape a little bit at a time, and getting to play music that we love with people that we love. We love meeting people and getting to know them, so it’s nice. We are always with each other and we always hang out, so when we play shows it’s nice to talk and meet with other people.
12. When you're not involved in music what do you like to do?
Drew- Work as much as I can to help pay the bills. I’ve also been wanting to start skateboarding more, but I don’t have enough money to buy a board. So if anyone has an old one I can have or buy for cheap, message me!
Tristan- Music is all I do
Alex and Nick just play Grand Theft Auto 4 and driving around town yelling at people
13. Do you have a funny or crazy story you'd like to share with us?
Every day is crazy for us, and a lot we can’t share at this moment. lol.
14. Are you guys going on tour anytime soon?
In July we’re going out for about a week and a half to promote our EP and have some fun. So come check it out if you get a chance!
HOMETOWN HEROES
1. What's the name of your site here?
Hometown Heroes of Lincoln, NE.
myspace. com/hthlincolnne
2. Where is it based?
Lincoln, NE
3. What is Hometown Heroes all about?
Hometown Heroes is a series of CD's each comprised of 20 local bands of all genres from certain cities and states and is distrbuted by Armthepit. com.
Mine is from Lincoln, NE and has local music comprised of rap, rock, metal, christian, and much more. Each CD is also produced by a local producer from each city as well as art on the CD cover from an local artist.
Armthepit. com sells these CD's nationwide on the internet and a portion of the proceeds goes to a local charity from the area where the CD was produced. My charity for this CD is "G.I.N.A for missing people" Here is a little bit about that organization: G.I.N.
A FOR MISSING PERSONS HTTP://WWW. MYSPACE. COM/GINAFORMISSINGPERSONS GINA for Missing Persons FOUNDation’s mission is to educate the public by utilizing entertainment to create awareness and media attention for missing persons world-wide. that can guide people whose family members become missing. GINA for Missing Persons FOUNDation was created in honor of Gina Bos who disappeared from Lincoln, NE Oct 2000 after a performance. Her case had no scandal or suspect. She simply vanished. With no media hook it became her families fight to create ways to gain attention for her and GINA for Missing Persons FOUNDation was born.
4. What's your goal?
At the present moment? It's to get this sucker done and produced. LOL. No, really. it will be to put more exposure on my favorite cause and that is finding missing people, specifically children, and also getting much needed exposure for bands out there that need to be seen and heard. Music is a big passion of mine and always will be.
5. I know you're working on a really cool project right now with locals. Can you tell us about that?
That would the Charity Comp CD I previously mentioned in question 3. I do need six more bands from the Lincoln,NE area to sign up for this exciting project.
Interested parties should go to myspace. com/hthlincolnne and follow the instructions in the "about me" section.
6. I know you are really involved in music but can you tell us what you do in the music scene/field?
I promote music and bands of all genres that are considered lesser known, underground, and unsigned through my music site "Boos Music Ranch". I also run a monthly online battle of the bands (with help from you as well, thank you very much!)that generates a pretty good buzz and brings more people to the competing bands sites exposing their music to newer audiences on a worldwide level. That is run through my site as well.
If anybody reading this would like to check it out, go to: myspace. com/boosmusicranch.
I also recruit bands for various online radio shows and someday may even start getting into booking local gigs at area bars and clubs.
7.Here's a chance to get a word out to bands out there. If you could change one thing in the music business in regards to bands what would it be?To get people to open their minds musically and give another genre they may not listen to (on a regular basis) a chance. I think my last battle of the bands proved that as the newest winner is a genre that isn't hardcore or death metal for the first time.
8. How can people get a hold of you to help out?
I'm always open to ideas if someone wanted to message me at myspace. com/boosmusicranch
9. What advice would you give to ones who would like to start something similar in their area?
Have fun with it and don't let other opinions get to you (the negative ones, anyway). I go with this philosophy: "Opinions are like BUTTS* in that everyone has one".
10. Now this might not necessarily be a music topic but it's an important issue. And one I know you really care about. And that's the missing children bulletin with amber alerts that you have up on your music page. What can our viewers do to help?
Keep an open eye out there. You can download the Amber alert app through the "apps tab" on all home pages. You should also be able to click on the app on any of my pages and it will take you to the info you need for downloading. Finding missing children has always been a cause that is close to me. My own son had been kidnapped by his mother early on in his life and I had no idea where he was for six entire months and it dang* near drove me to insanity. Thank god I have full custody of him now! I really feel I'll have accomplished something really great if someone out there in the world of myspace recognizes a missing child featured on all my sites and they end up home safe and sound.
