The path of the Amherawdr began in the spring 2006 from the surrounding wilds of Cair Uisk. There in the western fringes of England emerged the will to forge and temper extreme metal that casts the minds eye through the mists of time, guided by the current of a bloodstream – back to the source. The atavistic warrior spirit, ancestral heritage – a birthright slipping far from us, heathen pride and resistance - all contribute to the themes of a Dark Age metal legion.The music of Amherawdr stirs deep sorrow and black rage in equal measure with celebratory nature. Black metal has evolved much since the incarnations of its first and second generations. It is no longer solely a conduit for the ideals of those seminal, great bands… their craft since adopted by the untalented, the narrow minded zealot and even some further pioneers, but still many of whom seem just as Christian in their refusal of life.We do not claim to be anything we’re not and do not wish to add to trends that by their very nature remove the focus and meaning from the music, likewise our individual beliefs are our own and were never intended to be the bands driving force. The fine kinship of Sokaris and our brothers in war and metal share visions of killing fields, clashing shield walls and hear crys of victory amidst the suffering of foes, and with these thoughts we unite, as one, and celebrate in the glory of our music, the manifestation of overwhelming power, the warriors of old and a forging of metal unheard..
