History and background of LID
We started around the year 1983 doing free experimental improvisations. When we start a jam session we do not have any pre decided guidelines, not musically, textually or any other agreements about what is going to happened. We just start playing and what ever happens happens.
We are three persons, normally a guitarist, a keyboard sampler or synth player, and a drummer or synth player. All of us might occasionally sing or talk, but under these 25 years it’s not been so often. We often do rather long jam sessions, everyone acting rather egoistic but also rather often we find each other in some sort of musical communication.
During a period under 1990 we were more into rock ’n roll and did then more kind of rehearsed songs based on our improvisations. We did then have the name “Pungdjävlarna” (Swedish for something like “The Devils of the Scrotum” but also “Tasmanian Devil”) or Sarcophilus Satanicus.Same text in Swedish:
Vi startade runt 1983 med fria experimentella improvisationer. Vi sätter igång och jamma helt utan några bestämda riktlinjer, varken musikaliska, textuella eller andra överenskommelser.
Vi är tre personer, vanlig sättning är en gitarrist, en keyboardist/sampelmaster och en trummis/keyboardist. Alla sjunger/talar när andan faller på, men under dessa 25 år har det varit rätt sällan. Vi kör ofta rätt långa jam där vi både är rätt egotrippade, men också finner varandra då och då i någon sorts musikalisk kommunikation.
Att lyssna på ett helt jam som utomstående är förmodligen rätt tålamodskrävande, men kan kanske, då och då, också ge rätt ovanliga häftiga musikaliska upplevelser.
Under en period runt 1990 körde vi mer rock och gjorde då mer inrepeterade låtar som framfördes under bandnamnet Pungdjävlarna, eller ibland sarcophilus satanicus. Låtarna hämtades ur våra jam.
