Utilizing the Tuesday Night Cafe Project and my life's work BUILDing with people, to create TIME and SPACE. What we need to struggle for goes beyond large sums of money for projects and budgets that may change on the whim of a grant proposal and the things we do to get that final payment. When we are self-sustaining artists, organizations, activists...we are then a self-sustaining body that is taking care of itself, allowing ourselves the power to conduct and construct our own structures and infrastructure...our own practices based on philosophies and missions that we create from our deeper knowledge of peoples history, struggle, and the external (and internalized) forces of fear - greed, racism, judgement, entitlement, pseudo-liberalism, we need to be the ones steering our own bodies, communities, the land...geez, wait a sec, this is so serious...who even reads this, tra? let's see how long before someone even notices...if someone really wants to know, we'll then move on to "space" and "time" and "mission" "vision" "struggle" - haHAA! you're a little fool, tra. you need to get off the computer now. you're writing to yourself...hmm, i guess that's what all of these boxes are for. hAA! heehee. now you're laughing with yourself... interests: true compassion and the drive to seek and draw out, the positive/passionate/truthful aspects in a person, [beyond the (self-)loaded term of "diplomacy" - i try to find something interesting in a person, but i do not care to lie in order for the person to like me back]. interests: experiments. honesty. self-criticism. checking myself. checking others. understanding the tendencies of my sign and numerology but never getting locked in to it. understanding the tendencies of other's signs but never letting ourselves lock folks in to those descriptions. okay, now you really need to get off the computer.

About Music for this day in October, 2005. Kent Cyclone makes me tingle. i want a recording of "Giant Buttons" in my iPod. i want to shop at random westside co-ops just to "bump into" Pat Monahan. i'd like to finally see Tori Amos live goddamnit. i don't think i'll ever be able to get tickets to see U2, ever. i pledge to infuse my iPod with every Stevie Wonder, Prince, and Stellastar song ever created. ever. Enka music rocks. SKIM rocks my world. IZ makes me cry. i want the Flaming Lips and Kaos in my iPod NOW. i get to see Cameo play in November. Kennedy and i saw Debbie Harry on First Street in Little Tokyo. i will always love anything that comes out of Shin Kawasaki's musical pores. it's gonna be fun getting inside those lyrics, Gertie. i'd give up my damn iPod and every song in it if i could hear Dad sing "Love Me Tender", just one more time. i can't believe we never recorded him. Supper Super Supper Club, oh yeah.
Well, George, what do you think? Will the "11" ever make one together? hmmmmm!!!!! Oh...YES, you say?! WOOOHOOOO! (See, the whole point of this, George, is that it's IN WRITING!!!) And i wrote your name twice! That means we must do this. Yes. AND, you'll find your girl!!!.....i don't know what that has to do with movies, but maybe it has everything to do with it. Okay, now i'm talking out of my ass - kind of like when we were in Amsterdam, ey? Oh, no, that was you. (Kidding.........kinda). Anyways, back to filmmaking...
stir, sigh, sit, with it. lies, dogmas, wishful thinking. still, in its trappings.
i love the scent of books...the way they feel when they're cool and flat to the inside of my palm, the sound of the binding as we make our acquaintance, the position of numbers on each page, the smooth glide my fingers make along the 3 sides of a mass of bound papers in a closed book...although i am somewhat embarrassed on becoming an imelda of bags, sneakers and jackets - you can never, never, never have too many books. i did let go of a bunch of readings on my last move...purging is a lovely gesture and moreover just an excuse to purchase new ones. But, pleased, so pleased, am i to sit against an uncomfortable book shelf these days...in any kind of bookstore or old library...for hours, like i did when i was in college...just read and write and muse, then walk out without buying a thing. Still, i need to read more. OOO!! - Remember that Twilight Zone episode with the bank teller who just wanted "more time!" to read in peace and quiet...? Then he got it, and then he lost it. Now THAT is great T.V.
