SKIP SAYLOR RECORDING, later known as SKIP SAYLOR RECORDING COMPANY, INC. was a top level recording and mix facility for 26 years, from 1980 through June of 2006. During that time, numerous platinum and multi-platinum records were recorded and/or mixed there. For a listing of some of the artists who brought their projects to the facility, please see the past clients blog linked to this page.
Skip Saylor is now concentrating primarily on his record producing career and towards that end, decided to close his long standing commercial recording studio in Hollywood in favor of building a high end tracking and mix facility in a new San Fernando Valley location which will mostly be used for his own productions, but occasionally rented out to selected clients during down time that Skip is not working on a project of his own. He has retained ALL of his equipment from his former facility, including his modified 100 input SSL recording console (pictured in this page's main profile photograph), Pro Tools HD and a large array of microphones and prime outboard gear too numerous to mention here (please see the equipment blog).Having produced records from time to time during his numerous years as a studio owner and having absorbed the "tricks of the trade" by spending literally tens of thousands of hours prior to opening his own facility as an assistant or main engineer alongside such producer legends as Jimmy Iovine (Tom Petty's "Damn The Torpedoes"), to name but one producer and album Skip is associated with, it has become obvious that full time record producing is the next logical step in his already illustrious career and where Skip's true musical passion lies from this point forward. Skip is invigorated to be in the enviable position of being able to devote himself full time to it.
Skip Saylor spent his summer in New Zealand and Los Angeles producing the debut of Auckland based band SPACIFIX, whose album "MUCH LOVE" is now out. It currently is available only through the band's website and selected retail stores in New Zealand, but coming soon to other outlets. Click the album cover below to purchase the record from the band's website (they do worldwide shipping) or
click this link to hear clips of the entire Spacifix album which Skip Saylor produced. Please note that the CD prices are in NZ dollars, so will be lower as purchased in U.S. dollars.
Although the performers in SPACIFIX are New Zealand's youngest professional entertainers, they have already scored their own NZ based television reality show, which features Skip Saylor in some episodes. "Henderson to Hollywood" began airing in early September on New Zealand TV2, Saturdays at 4:30pm, but is now in Hiatus after having completed its first season run. Look for season two sometime in the new year.

Spacifix has also earned the backing of major corporate sponsors such as Air New Zealand. Additionally, their debut single, "Sunshine Day", was in the top 20 of the New Zealand pop chart for several weeks, alongside the songs of superstar acts and solo artists such as Black Eyed Peas, Mary J Blige, LL Cool J, Shakira, Nickelback, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pink, and Gnarls Barkley. Skip believes in the potential of SPACIFIX to not only dominate the NZ music scene with their fresh, energetic and fun sound, but to become break out recording artists on the world stage, including in the U.S., and is thrilled to have been selected to produce the band's first full length debut recording.

Prior to leaving for New Zealand, Skip Saylor produced the full length solo recording debut of his wife, singer/songwriter/guitarist LYNN CAREY SAYLOR, as well as the debut album of Indie artist TAWNY ELLIS. Both records are now out and available at each artist's website and iTunes.
Lynn Carey Saylor's record, entitled "YOU LIKE IT CLEAN", features 10 songs written in their entirety by Lynn, plus a rocked up, modern version of the classic song, "WE BELONG", orginally recorded by Pat Benatar and written by Eric Lowen and Dan Navarro. Brian May, guitarist of supergroup QUEEN, makes a guest appearance on "We Belong" on both vocals and guitar, as well as on another song from her record, her original song "If We Believe." Other notable musicians appearing on her Skip Saylor produced debut include Stacy Jones (drums) and Jamie Arentzen (guitar), frontman and guitarist respectively for popular rock band "AMERICAN HI-FI" (best known for their 2002 hit single "Flavor Of The Weak"), Chris Johnson, programmer of the smash hit single for Evanescence, "Bring Me To Life", Frank Gryner, producer and/or programmer to many well-known artists such as Tommy Lee and Rob Zombie, Danny Miranda, formerly the long time touring bassist of Blue Oyster Cult and currently the tour bassist for Queen + Paul Rodgers, Sasha Krivtsov, former touring bassist for such artists as Vanessa Carlton and Billy Idol and currently in the house band of the CBS reality series "Rockstar Supernova" (formerly known as Rockstar INXS), and drummer Mark Schulman, who has toured or recorded with the likes of Cher, Foreigner, Pink, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow and many other superstar artists.
Skip Saylor is currently accepting new production projects. Please feel free to write to Skip at [email protected] if you are interested in having him produce your next record. Please note, however, that while Skip Saylor is "Indie artist friendly", he is a producer for HIRE and does not produce on spec or solely for record "points."
