The world is a book and those who do not travel only read a page. -St. Augustine

About Me

My new home is always under construction. Please visit it at A Novel Path. Travelling Schedule - Wanna Come?

Live the wonderful life that is in you. -Oscar Wilde
...I had made a decision which carried with it things that I could not articulate at the time...And it struck me that the most difficult thing had been the decision to act, the rest had been merely tenacity-and the fears were paper tigers. One really could do anything one had decided to do whether it were changing a job, moving to a new place or whatever, one really could act to change and control one’s own life; and the procedure, the process, was its own reward. -Tracks, Robyn Davidson
When someone makes a decision he is really diving into a strong current that will carry him to places he had never dreamed when he first made the decision. -The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho
Nostalgia has no place for the woman traveling alone. Our motion is forward, whether by train or daydream. Our sights are on the horizon, across strange terrain, vast desert,...impenetrable ice peaks. -Nothing to Declare: Memoirs of a Woman Traveling Alone, Mary Morris
For I am the first and the last
I am the venerated and the despised
I am the prostitute and the saint
I am the wife and the virgin
I am the mother and the daughter
I am the arms of my mother
I am barren and my children are many
I am the married woman and the spinster
I am the woman who gives birth and she who never procreated
I am the consolation for the paint of birth
I am the wife and the husband
And it was man who created me
I am the mother of my father
I am the sister of my husband
And he is my rejected son
Always respect me
For I am the shameful and magnificent one.
-Hymn to Isis, Nag HammadiOne is loved because one is loved. No reason is needed for loving. -The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho...if you really and sincerely and passionately want to do something (and wholeheartedly, with the whole of your sincerest self) it is by doing that that you will be most useful, will be giving the most, will be of most individual value.
-Anne Morrow Lindbergh
When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it. -The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho

My Interests

When I am not flying around the world on covert operations, near gored by a yak on trail in the remote Himalayas, lending my body to science so that hot UofA med student could study me at the base of Everest, loving my tennis elbow while kayaking around Antiparos, free falling out of aircraft, munching grubs with Germans in Thailand, landing face first in a pile of rocks outside Pamplona, taking aim at moving targets, and/or swilling vodka to seduce high-ranking political figures gain access to private information...I am wandering the world with a backpack slung over my shoulders. I'll get back to cooking five course meals and throwing dinner parties with shots of tequila courtesy of Vicente Fox and vodka martinis Gorbachov would envy when I arrive in Mexico and Russia in 2007.
My dog Tak

I'd like to meet:

Worldly types. Adventure seekers. Wanderlust. Well-rounded renaissance-style intelligence. Flat out honesty. Independence. Literacy. Sense of humor (you'll be laughing at me and with me, but my friends say mostly at me). The perfect man - a mix of Indiana Jones and James Bond (minus the glaring infidelities of course). If you possess these qualities AND resemble Clive Owen...look out! ;)Nowadays, just catching up with me is half the battle...We are all travelers in the wilderness of this world, and the best we can find in our travels is an honest friend -- Robert Lewis Stevenson
Steve Sims ...this guy is f*cking brilliant! Love it!

Music:

Thievery Corporation, The Fray, John Mayer (Continuum), Rufus Wainwright (Poses), Latham, Joseph John (as a frontman), Keane, Eagles, James Blunt, David Gray, Simon & Garfunkel, Toad, Miles Ito, Natasha Beddingfield, Gypsy Kings, Buena Vista Social Club...and the starving indy artists who would never give up their soul for any label (you know who you are).

Movies:

Indiana Jones, James Bond, Big Fish, Garden State, Americano, Ask the Dust

Television:

I sold it...instead I watch these....

...and spend more time outside when I'm not writing.

Books:

Eat, Pray, Love; Tao of Pooh, Tales of a Female Nomad, Anais Nin, All Things Paulo Coelho, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Any cookbook, Emerson, O'Henry, Journey of a Hope Merchant

Heroes:

Without question, those taking the first step off a cliff with nothing but their faith below. People who love what they do, yet make no money doing it.
