Emerging from the bitter cold and bleak W.N.Y. scene, four friends combined with a lust for metal, a strong work ethic, an old-fashioned D.I.Y. attitude recalling the young days of Punk plus a love and passion for music, this is what encapsules thinksobrain. A newcomer to the already thriving Buffalo music scene, thinksobrain is earning the respect of bands and fans alike throughout Western New York.
The original band line-up began working on songs in early February 2006, with Joe Kent on rhythm guitar and vocals, Dan Godding on bass guitar, Jeff Levine on lead guitar, and Rob Bruce on drums. Transportation issues kept Jeff from practicing with the rest of the band and in April of 2006, he amicably left thinksobrain to pursue his love of stand-up comedy.
On April 8, 2006, Lucifer Raine auditioned to take lead guitar duties. After hearing Lucifer's amazing skill as a guitarist, he was offered the job, accepting as quickly as offered.
thinksobrain immersed themselves into their music and diligently worked throughout the next few months. This persistence resulted in the completion of a self-recorded two song demo with the immediate addition of two more songs. After attending the allwnyradio.com House Party 3, the band met up with fellow local band, The Fracture , who offered them a spot on a show at the Showplace Theatre in Buffalo which the young band immediately accepted. They also crossed paths with the well-known Gravity Thieves , who graciously offered to professionally record the band's demo.
On July 29th, 2006, thinksobrain had their first show in front of an enthusiastic crowd at the Showplace Theatre. Their first show was met with a tremendous response. They were offered another show at Ms. Kitty's and are quickly broadening their fan-base, as well as making very good friends with some very well-respected older bands.
On December 22, 2006, the band has parted ways with bassist Dan. Thom Kurzdorfer filled in for the next few shows, and on Saturday, January 27, 2007, the band named Jorge as their new bass player. Thom played his final show with the band on February 9th, 2007, as Jorge debuted. One week later, Jorge played his first full show with thinksobrain.
On June 1st, 2007, drummer Rob announced that he would be departing from the band. After an exhaustive search, the band announced at allwnyradio.com's House Party 6 that their new drummer will be Lucifer's former Bloody Mary bandmate, Anthony.
What will the future hold for this talented and hard-working band of friends? Only time will tell....
