Mizoguchi's "Tokyo March",1929 (Part 1) Nikkatsu intended this to be their first sound film but problems with technology led to its final release as a silent with an accompanying record which became a great success. Originally from 80 to 102 minutes long ,the surviving fragment is only 20 minutes. Story:The illegitimate daughter of a wealthy merchant becomes a geisha abused by the men around her.
