The Un Fun Slide is an energetic ska band from the suburbs of Southern California. The band was formed in February of 2003 from members of two existing ska bands who came together in search of a band that defied the generic sound of so many bands. Over the next two years, the Un Fun Slide developed its own original style and sound, playing many shows throughout Southern California.
In April of 2004, the band came out with its first release, entitled "Pitfalls and Perils". The album featured nine tracks of original material that went far beyond the typical living room ska band sound and into a style that no one else had. The album had everything, including songs about love, hate, friends, pizza, and the occasional bum thief, but what was most noted was the energetic blend of ska dance grooves with the power of rock.
Things began to pick up, and soon UFS was playing shows all around the Southwest. Soon after "Pitfalls and Perils" was released, the band writing more songs for an EP. The follow-up was worked on for two years before the band entered the studio again. The EP, named "Straight Down to Magma", features 8 new tracks of dance grooves and rocking ska-punk and is slated to be released Feb. 17. After the release, the band will also launch a long series of shows and tours in support of the new album, including a summer tour that will branch into the Midwest.
It's all coming together soon....
