Dickson

Dickson is a Songwriter and producer from Belfast Northern Ireland. Over the Years he has played a number of instruments in a handful of Bands and worked along side some great players, all the time honing his skill for song writing. After years of Playing in Bands and hiding in the shadows he finally decided to go it alone. 2007 seen the independent release of his debut, self produced album 'In Between Love and war' A collection of songs that were recorded in one take on a winters day in 2006. Dickson recalls 'That album was more a live session than anything, I remember just recording most of it straight, as if a live gig. I just played the songs for hours before hand to get them tight. It was all very leisurely, i think you can hear that in the album. I'm not really one for revisionism, the songs came out they way they did on that day, maybe on another it would of been different. Its real basic stuff mind, just one pass on my Vocals and guitar and then i over dubbed a second guitar, i think theres a piano on there too somewhere. I think there's some good moments in there and as an album stands up to itself' 'In Between Love and war' is a real gem of poetic word play and and folk inspired guitar playing. At first listen its a very straight forward album, nothing complicated or flashy, very much a no frills approach to the production. 'There wasn't anything superfluous on there, it was a very stripped back approach, i wanted it to sound like a guy in a room with a guitar.' Dickson states. 'In Between love and war' is available for download only at soundclick.com/chrisdickson. 2008 will see the release of Dickson's follow up album, of which Dickson says 'This time round i want to make a bigger record, more instruments and things going on, i will probably put a band together for the sessions and see what happens. The songs themselves are no more complicated as such, i just want to play around with arrangements more.' The Album is currently in production now and should be released by March 2008.
