SAUVECITO

SUAVECITO; A Santana Tribute Band

About Me

Ah-nee (Greetings) my name is Lola, I am dedicating this space to my now deceased Brother Jesse, drummer/percussonist for Sauvecito...SAUVECITO; was formed April of 1987, and is posthumously dedicated to my Brother Jesse "Lowrider" Roubler; Native American of the Anishnabe. The group it self was the idea of Reuben "CC" Rodriguez, friend to Jesse "Lowrider" Roubler. That band itself went through many changes, and was very intergraded but perdominatly latin ie; Chicano, Prueto Rican, & Cuban, African American & Caucasin. The concept for the band was formed at lunch break at Kaskaskia college.CC & Lowrider, being die-hard Santana admirer's as he was the only Latin Rock guitarist of the time they could identify with other than Los lobo's who were becoming popular at the time as well. My Brother Lowrider was the drummer of the group he also taught me how to play drums and percussion. The named was formed from the song title that the Brother of Carlos Santana, who's name was Jorge Santana, and had a hit in the early seventies called "Sauvecito" CC & Lowrider chose that name for the band as a tribute to Both Santana Brothers & their music. The group practiced dilligently for a month 1/2 with various musicans comming & going before their first gig. This music here is the history of most, if not all, of the band parctice sessions that were recorded unknowly to all the other band members, according to my Brothers (lowrider) liner notes, all but one of these recordings was taped with-out the other band members being aware of it. Done so only to study the bands progress & accomplishments.Recorded over language tape's and various other kind of casettes from college course studies of the era as well as one Maxelle C60 casette. Recorded on casette box that pluged in to the PA system panel with the singing mic's being the recording source. This music was recorded bi-weekly from 5/3/87 - 6/7/87.Going through my Brother Jesse's belongings after he took the journey (passed on) in late 1995, I found these tapes preserved in casettes cases and with detailed notes on evey band session down to the smallest detail. From every muscian, as well as their progress ,as what needed to be improved, to sound, quality, & performance.I hope that some of his friends & band members will find this music they never heard and re-group Sauvecito to being a band once again with me "Lola" on drums to honor my Brother Jesse. Whom they knew as, Lowrider. These tapes have been subjected to water damage but still maintain, decent sound quality considering everything.I hope to get them in a studio PA where I could EQ the vocals & percussion on the music. Chi-migwetch (Thank you very much) this Music is dedicated to my Brother & Jesse (RIP) Native American who took the journey many moons ago, & to The Band Suavectio.
