THE PAYNES (Leonard & Testaview) When Testaview was just a little kid maybe, 5 or six years old she had an extreme zeal to learn to play music. I guess it was from GOD. Her Father made her a homemade Banjo from a wooden cigar box and a porch banister. This was her first musical instrument to learn to play. A few years later she got a real one and learned to play very well. She soon got an old Guitar and learned to play it and added other musical instruments through the years. I guess her favorite instrument to play is the Autoharp. Not many people play the Autoharp. She has a unique style featuring melody, background and fill-ins. SHE USES THE AUTOHARP ON THIS WHOLE ALBUM. Give it a listen! She grew up in the Hills of North Carolina. I grew up in the Hills of Virginia and have been playing music since I was a small kid. My father always had musical Instruments around when I was growing up. I met Testaview and we got married in 1960. We began playing in Clubs, Churches and anywhere music was needed immediately. We soon went to Nashville and recorded a record on the Rem Record Label of two songs she had written. Through the years we have made other records. We have written several Country and Gospel songs. Please take a listen to this CD of the 12 Gospel songs we both wrote. I think you will find something on it that you will enjoy as they are all different.
