Music, art, and writing. I wish I had a job that combined all three - I almost do as an opera singer, it just doesn't quite pay the rent :(I also really really really love New York City. It's a city of second and third and fourth chances. It can be a pretty lonely place, even with all 8 million of us living here.... I have also in recent years become what's referred to as a "fashionista." Not sure why, could be plus modeling, could be that I remember being made fun of a lot in school because of my clothes...but I am obsessed with my wardrobe now and since I'm losing weight I'm constantly giving cute clothes away. Favorite designers: Jessica Svoboda (best booty-hugging jeans EVER), Monif C, Elena Miro (she's my new hero), Marc Jacobs, Roberto Cavalli, Darren Trentacosta, Abby Z.
Bono. My Grandfather (he died before I was born). Queen Elizabeth (Golden Age Queen Elizabeth, not the current one). Anybody who has gone through a stuggle and come out more beautiful than ever. People who inspire me.
Ok, first thing's first: U2. I also love Sufjan Stevens, Jeff Buckley, Cowboy Junkies, Willie Nelson, Rachel Yamagata, The Weepies, Jolie Holland, Tom Waitts. I was named after a Beatles' album, so I have a soft spot for the lads from Liverpool, too. Also, I'm an opera singer so I'm pretty tight with classical music, too.
Amarcord,8 1/2, Harvey, Amelie, Mulholland Drive, Anything Indiana Jones-ish, the new Pride and Prejudice, Lolita, American Beauty, True Romance, Deconstructing Harry, Being There, The Philadelphia Story, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Restoration, The Wizard of Oz, Zorba the Greek
Your Inner European is Italian!
Passionate and colorful.
You show the world what culture really is.
Who's Your Inner European?
King of the Hill has been my favorite show for about 10 years now. I'm a proud Texan, what can I say? I also LOVE Damages. If you don't watch Damages, you should. It's a great show. The Riches is pretty good, too. I also really like The Sarah Silverman Program, Project Runway, Meerkat Manor, Family Guy, The Office, Ugly Betty, What Not To Wear. I also love shows about true crime. Like "Cold Case Files" on Court TV. And pretty much anything on The History Channel piques my interest.
The Liar's Club, The Russian Debutante's Handbook, The Book of Laughter and Forgetting, Chronicles (Bob Dylan), A Death in the Family - basically anything by James Agee, Watership Down, any of The Chronicles of Narnia (I also like the philospohical and religious writings of C.S. Lewis although I'm not philosophical or religious myself), any interesting historical writings are also cool. I love reading about the French Revolution.
Mostly my Grandma is my hero. I also really like Jeff Buckley a lot, I think U2 have done a lot of good for this world, and there's a quietude to Sufjan Stevens that makes me think I'd be very proud to know him.
