I'd like to meet:

Tim Curry, Laurie Anderson, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant, Mandy Patinkin, Sam Harris, Kate Bush, anyone with more money than me who might like to share it with me, Ed Rust, Gordon Ramsey, Dave Foley, Bill Clinton...just to name a few. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqvmXJcDTko&eurl=.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCGaVrOzMn8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_bjXqaufog

Music:

Laurie Anderson, Kate Bush, Sam Harris, The Smiths, Michael Buble, Indigo Girls, Melissa Ethridge, show tunes (loving Wicked right now), Natalie Merchant, Mozart, anything from the 80's.

Movies:

Unbearable Lightness of Being, 'night Mother, All That Jazz, Parenthood, Sideways, Lost in Translation, Faranheit 9/11, Stagedoor, Thin Man, Clue, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Gladiator, 1776...don't see too many new movies these days except stuff with the kids like The Incredibles. Love watching what friends suggest. Usually really enjoy those.

Television:

Love my "reality tv": Survivor, Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares, The Amazing Race, The Apprentice, Making the Band, Laguna Beach and any others you can name; also love the British version of The Office, Extras, Green Wing, West Wing, Keen Eddie, Sex and the City, Deadwood, Sopranos, Big Love, Dead Like Me, Huff, Grey's Anatomy, Kids in the Hall.Mac and Caroline to Phantom Planet

Books:

Anything murder-mystery, especially with a recurring detective character: love Anne Perry, Robert B Parker, James Patterson, Jonathan Kellerman, Patricia Cornwell. Also enjoy Joyce Carol Oates, Ann Tyler, Anne Taylor (but HATE Anne Coulter), Fannie Flagg. Am a fan of political biographies and writers/commentators such as Al Franken.

Heroes:

My mother, who has cared for an invalid husband the past 9 years and who shows me every day what commitment and honor are about; my mentors, who believed in me when I couldn't believe in myself and who put their hands on my back and pushed me forward every day for years on end; my children, who gave up their home and way of life to care for grandpa with never a moment's complaint and who love everyone they meet, regardless of race, lifestyle or religious belief. I only wish I could be like them when I grow up.

First of all, a very happy birthday to J. in Chicago. How blessed am I to be born in the same lifetime as him and how lucky that I am smart enough to have loved Kate Bush but still dumb enough not to ...

Is it that time already?

Wow! Going on 11 already? I cut out of work an hour early today. Of course, I have gone in an hour early every day this week, so I am not sure it is really cutting out early when they get 4 extra hour...

These are days...we remember

Just a quick word to say that today was a good day. They are so few and far between that I had to acknowledge it. It may seem, from the outside, looking in, that this would actually be one of my "bad"...

The Windy City is really windy!

It's like walking in  a wind tunnel here in the city today. Chicago is just my favorite city in the world, but MAN, windy it is. It's been such an amazing, relaxed weekend with my daughter here i...

Headlines

I was just perusing the headlines on-line and saw the actor Heath Ledger was found dead--naked with a bottle of sleeping pills nearby. A little obvious if you ask me, but we often fall back on cliches...

Picture perfect

The house is all abuzz today: my youngest was in today's newspaper, holding her first place certificate for the science fair. I had to run to the grocery store and buy up all the copies so we could se...

M-O-U-S-E

Phew! That stupid skit is over. I think it went really well. We got to go first, so all of our jokes were fresh and we were a little risque and silly, so we got a lot of laughs. Is it ignoble to say t...
