Band Members: Dokter Leo, brazilian native, drummer, songwriter, loop freak and scientist. There is a belief that music is able to bring healing and well being in different ways. Love, Hate, Fear, Anger and Happiness can be balanced through music in a daily basis. Music's always been there as a true gateway to deep understanding and is a tool to add up. For the record, I have played different kinds of music, like brazilian rhythms (regional research project Daniel & Os Operários), heavy metal, thrash metal, blues, pop, spanish pop music, dance, drum'n'guitar, drum'n'bass, rock, classic rock, jazz, progressive and experimental music. Influences: Randomly produced sounds, loops, multilayered sounds, pieces of songs from artists all around. Anything that really rocks, well organized stuff (orchestrated and such), and other artists that use all 5 senses to enjoy music as a living thing, part of our lives. With a degree in veterinary medicine, I worked 7+ years in a few countries, though currently focused in music, and I should say that the love, emotion, responsibility and perception skills that I have acquired deeply influence me all around. Also hard working, persistent people, with a humble approach to the greater things like living well, in harmony and happy also influence me and I hope to influence them as well. Good music is a result of, above all, be having a good time with your self and the people you like having around. Always you should polish, develop and enhance your tools by studying, but that means nothing compared to make people groove in your song. Whatever style it is, it should provoke an emotion to the listeners. And that thought influences me as well to keep working for the living.
Sounds Like: Some people claim music is to be heard, not explained. Well it’s a worthy side of the story for sure, that one must feel the powerful, surrounding, life altering properties of music and respond to it in an emotional way. It should feel good if nothing else. But wait! How can we recognize and repeat this good vibes? What’s the pattern? How does it work to put up a groove and stick to it? By sharing my ideas and insights, I do hope others could benefit from the experiences. I’ve been recording my work for many years in a plethora of scenarios, and the bottom line is so far founded under the premise of energy flow. All these takes have been captioned in a live studio situation, usually with a single dynamic mic pointed strategically which sometimes passed thru a voice effects processor and finally was recorded onto a common audio tape and digitalized to here. More than this, it’s safe to say they were actually created on the spot, in real time. I had ideas, but nothing final (as it ain’t, still) and with that information I tried to put some feelings together. In the “girls named poly” take I recorded the drum part with a click using some ideas I had for the polyrhythmic sections over the 4/4 groove and it felt a little bit like a movie score. So minutes after I finished the take I went to the keyboard and recorded, over the same click, though not listening to any drums, the vamp synth sections you hear. Then I just matched them together in my sonar editing software and that was it. This happened to all the songs... I found the effect, and created the song spontaneously based on the sensation, and that’s energy flow in my conception. Not interfering with the birth of a groove, just letting it come alive. Simple setup always, nothing against hi-tech studios, it just happened this way. Some friends are currently working to develop some melodies over these tracks and soon I’ll be touring music schools worldwide to explain the concept deep and further. Try to picture your own little movie while listening to my songs which had their names based on sound as well. So work on your chops, work hard and let it flow...never prevent the energy from passing thru because that’s its inherent truth. Energy is only energy if it moves around, shares, ads up, and completes our lives!!! Salute to all who can open the mind and let it connect.
