About Me

Born in '68...a year filled with assassinations, riots and worldwide chaos...raised in the weird and sleazy 70's, NY Hardcore kid in the 80's, misguided corporate drone in the 90's, and who knows what the hell I've become now. Life's journey can be very confusing.
I'm a crazy Gemini, born in the Year of the Monkey.
I like listening, observing, learning.
I can be quiet and introspective unless you get close to me or get me drunk. Since I let very few people get close to me, your best option may be to get me drunk.
I'm far from perfect, but my heart is in the right place.
I go very well with dark beer, loud music, greasy pizza, and late nights that are a dim, hazy memory when you wake up days later with a half eaten White Castle in one hand and an empty bottle in the other.
I run the Grindhouse Film Festival , a monthly exploitation film screening series held at the New Beverly Cinema in Los Angeles.
Back in NY, I used to maintain the website with schedules for the Music Palace and all the other (now closed) Chinese language theaters down in Chinatown.

My Interests

Movies (horror, cult, classics, exploitation, silents, kung fu, sexploitation, indie, 70's porn, foreign or just plain weird) • Long random road trips, preferably with someone I enjoy sitting next to for hours • Food! I love food of all types and will go out of my way for an interesting hole-in-the-wall restaurant (but I'm somehow still thin) • Conversation with interesting people (but I hate meaningless small talk) • Riding my bike or taking long walks • Hiking and camping, though haven't done much of either since moving to LA • Dive bars • Exploring new neighborhoods • Music! Without music in my life I would have lost my sanity on a number of occasions • Import and microbrewed beer • Taking long drives alone late at night to clear my thoughts • Lately I've wanted to get my bass and guitar from NY, or maybe buy a drum, and make some noise again • I'm fascinated by the seemingly random moments that bring us to where we are in life, and bring certain people into our lives, and spend hours trying to figure out how everything is connected in some grand scheme I have yet to decipher.

I'd like to meet:

Nerds, dorks, geeks, freaks, weirdos and outcasts.

If you create something (film, music, art, food, chaos) and you do it with passion and a little bit of madness, we'd probably get along well - so feel free to say hello.

Please note: This is my personal account for people I know in "real life." If we've never met or spoken but you think we should, please at least send a short message first.

Books:

I love old books with strange scribbled notes from former owners, or with odd objects and scraps of paper stuffed between the pages.
