I'm good in bed but I'm better with the pen ;)

About Me

Aight :)
This is T* Journo, a MySpace set up for my writing. I started it in 2005 but have undergone a few setbacks in the past two years, namely being hacked and having everything deleted.
But y'know what? Jealousy will get you nowhere ;)
Click here for my personal MySpace.
My one-on-one work tends to be more with unsigned bands because, let's face it, they're the future of music. I do work with established and more 'famous' acts though but this is more limited, obviously, as statuses increase.
To read my stuff you have to have me added, purely because I like to know who's reading my work :) also, people I don't even know have used writing that's mine and tried to pass it off as their own. It's all under copywrite protection now so be very very careful if you steal even a sentence.
If you want me to work with you please please please read my FAQs first because I get so many questions and requests from people who clearly haven't read them even though it's a simple concept. Bear that in mind. If there's still anything you're unsure of after you've read the FAQs then don't hesitate to send me a message either on here or to [email protected]
Oh and I won't give you the time of day if you're a wanker. The world can do without that :)

FAQs READ THESE BEFORE GETTING IN TOUCH WITH ME ABOUT ANYTHING.
Who do you work for?

I don't work for anyone, that is to say I'm not employed by anyone specific to do writing for them. Most of my reviews, interviews, articles and features go on www.audioscribbler.co.uk but if you want me to do something for you just ask. The added bonus is it'll end up on audioscribbler and you'll get more exposure.
Why do you do all this writing?
Because I want a good job in music journalism and it's a hugely competitive field of work. I'm getting the experience now and networking, getting to know people and improving my writing while I'm still at university.
I'm not about to go cold into a job and then be like 'OK, so how the fuck do I get on then?'.
If you want people to read your stuff then why are your blogs private?
My blogs are on a friends-only setting because I've recently seen somebody trying to pass off one of my reviews as their own. It might've worked if they hadn't left the venue and date in because they live in America. But the point is, I don't mind just anyone looking at my profile, I DO mind just anyone stealing my writing. Also, at 3.5k friends I got hacked and everything got deleted, including some work I'll never be able to get back, which is fucking annoying. Not relevant to this question, but annoying all the same, so I'm more protective of my writing because of it.
Will you review mine/my band's CD?
I definitely will. If you want me to do so just send me a message and I'll message you back with an address to send your CD to. EPs/CDs up to and including 6 tracks will be reviewed track-by-track; CDs 7 tracks and more will be more generally reviewed as a whole package.
Will you interview me/my band?
Again, I will; all you have to do is ask.
Interviews throughout July are limited to the phone because of where I'm located; August and afterwards there's more opportunities to do real face-to-face work.
Will you come to a gig and review me/my band?
That depends on the location and how much it'll cost me to get there, as well as taking into account gig entry fee and possible accommodation costs.
If you're playing a gig in Leeds - brilliant.
If not and you want me personally to come review you then charges of up to 70% will be brought in to cover my travel, gig entry and accommodation. I'm a student, I have limited money and therefore I can't afford to go to London every week to see you play.
Not fair? Come to Leeds (;
We want to play in Leeds - can you get us a gig?
I can't get you a gig because I'm not a promoter. The best I can do is advise you on which venues in Leeds would be best suited to you/your band. Remember - some venues aren't in the city centre so think before you choose.
I live in the city, I know it well and I know the good places. The least you can do is listen to my advice.
THIS SITE and THIS ONE list loads of venues in Leeds and have contact numbers/e-mail addresses.
Are you only in it for the freebies?
Lol what freebies? I've been offered merch but don't think I'm in the position to be commanding free stuff. If someone genuinely wants to give me something because they're pleased with something I've done for them then I'll accept but I write because I love it, not because of the potential freebies.
Do you have MSN?
Yes I do and that's a totally irrelevant question.
BUT [email protected] is NOT my MSN address, that's my journalism e-mail that I use for correspondance with bands' PR people and management for arranging interviews, passes, guestlist entries etc.
You've reviewed/interviewed some really cool people, can you give me their MSN address/phone number?
Well yes I can, but no I'm not going to so don't even bother asking. I'm fortunate to be in the position I'm in, working with so many brilliant people, and I'm not about to jeopardise that by plastering their phone numbers/e-mail addresses all over MySpace.
Do you know all the people you've written about?
Not on a strictly one-to-one basis, but all of the bands I've written reviews on are aware that I have. Some of them I'm in touch with on a regular basis, some are just a few catch-up 'how are you?' messages every now and again. I'm not about name-dropping but I'm in very regular contact with people you'll never get close to.
Do you only review bands you like?
At the moment yes. Back to the money thing I'm not in the position to spend all of it on gig tickets so I go to the shows of bands I genuinely like and that's where I get my reviews from.
Did you know you have a fake? www.myspace.com/twinkleflaerie
That's not a fake, that's my personal account. STOP telling me about it and realise there's a link to it on my page (: feel free to add it, I'm chattier on there coz this one's more about the writing (:
