Back Then: First remember hearing good music from dj's at the roller rinks on Friday nights. Started skateboarding around 1986. Could be found on Tate Street on the weekends hanging out back when NYP's $2 pitchers were really big and nearly anyone could get served. Learned foozeball from the late and notorious "Kid" at the Galaxy. Around the summer of 1990 started going to Monday nights @ Kilroy's where I heard assorted industrial music. That summer attended my first 'party' @ original Park Elevater in Charlotte and heard the infamous DJ Drew Dettweiler (where are you now?) play The Orb's 'little fluffy clouds' and was hooked on electric dance music. Parties @ Infinity's, the Warehouse, Paris' Parties, Microrave and too numerous house parties to ever mention or remember followed. Started locating venues for parties and promoting. Connected with crew in Atlanta sometime in 1991. Started buying my own style of deep house same year. Friday nights @ Charlotte's Park Elevator was a regular event for years thanks to Strawberry NEK. Have been known to go to great lenghts to provide vibe for parties. Traveled to Orlando to see Sasha's first set at Aahz and of course the 'godfather of house' Dave Cannalte and his then protoge Kimball Collins. Soon was DJing myself and have since had the pleasure to play with such names as DJ Dan, Simply Jeff, Chris Gallagher, Ellis D and Feelgood. I deejayed mostly here in my home town but also was priveledged to have played as far as Atlanta, Richmond and in the legandary main room of Simon's in Gainsville, FL. Also helped run the Drop Shop and Drop Records...good times.
Currently: Doing promotions for Filter Magazine. I go to more pubs than clubs. Listen to a lot of college and talk radio. Buying recording equipment. Organizing a downtown outdoor spring event with acid jazz and downtempo. Any dj's or promoters interested may feel free to contact me.
