I am sitting on Cloud 9 and loving every minute of it. Crystal Ball Entertainment,
LLC . I am also the former President of NABFEME Los Angeles Network ( http://www.nabfeme.org )It's a clickable link and you should CLICK ON IT!. I held the position of President for over 2 years and met and networked with some very powerful and spiritual ladies. Their founder and Charmian, Johnnie Walker is the former Senior Vice President of Island Def Jams' Promotion Department. She has worked in radio for over 20 years and been instrumental in the careers of Montel Jordan, LL Cool J, Dur Hill and many more. She taught me what it means to be a GOOD leader. She held my hand when it got tough and the ride was rough to keep me balanced. This is a team of Powerful Sisters who work for the betterment of women in this entertainment industry. So, I urge you to check them out, do the math and make MEMBERSHIP count for YOU!
I have been in the entertainment business my entire adult life. I guess it was in my veins. My family has been in the business of entertainment since 1931. My uncle played in old black and white jungle movies as the side kick to a famous Lil jungle boy named Sabu. My dad played for the Negro League (The Chattanooga No Look Black Outs)in TN. My mom was one of the first black models for John Robert Powers (1950's) When it was a legitimate company...lol. She was also a model for the infamous Don Loper and Channel Lines in Paris France. My mother also was a registered nurse. I grew up in a house where my dad was friends with celebrities (e.g.) Lou Rawls, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and the entire Rat Pack and Nat King Cole. My dad ran the small restaurant below Dino's in the early 70's on the Sunset Strip. He passed away in 1999 but lived a long and successful life. I did a ancestor and family history on my family and it blew my socks off. I NOW know WHY we can't get reparations. My family were never slaves. In my ancestry search I found that my great-grandparents owned a general store and had over 20 slave families on their property. I remember hearing the stories of how my great-grandfather purchased slaves to SAVE them from a life of punishment of being black. My grandmother was born in 1882 and in the 1900 census it showed her as a chambermaid and her big brother was a Blacksmith. Umm, they didn't have blacksmiths who were black unless you had MONEY! It was a white man's trade and only the successful families had jobs of such status. They lived on a 75 acre plantation in Louisiana. Read the book I'm going to write. Yes, they convinced me to tell my family story :-) When I was about 8 years old I had the pleasure of meeting the Jackson 5. It would be the first of many of the years. By the time I was in my teens, I was blessed enough to be invited to many of the parties at the Jackson family home along with my family.
I grew up in L.A. and with kids who many became famous. I left L.A. before my senior year but returned in time to get my first taste of the music business. By the time I was 17, (seventeen,) I was working at Motown BEFORE there were Interns...lol I worked at the old Motown Offices on Sunset for two summers and met the man I call my BIG BROTHER, "Uncle Hen." Yes I know you were looking for the Aretha and Diana story but that's old news. Now that we know one another, I'll tell you about my family. I grew up where many of my friends became famous for music and sports. My big brother Hen wrote music for Motown and we were the youngest people around the office.
Life has been good to me. I've been blessed to manager and represent some wonderful talent over the past twenty odd years. me!*
