About Me

"Dream as if you'll live forever... Live as if you'll die today."
~James Dean

You may THINK you've met girls that work hard and play harder, until you've met the kid! LOL... Who am I? I'm an ACTRESS - virtually unknown, but on the grind. It's what I live, breathe, what drives me, and what keeps me in different timezones from week to week. And how did I get here? Well, it was a strange display of "kismet", if you will. I simply checked my email one day over a year ago, opened a message containing a casting call that I would have normally deleted without reading, and decided, on a whim, to go and try my hand. I had no idea how I'd do, or what to expect, but at the end of the day, I landed a lead role in a movie - something that I haven't stopped being excited about since I first received the call :-) But even then, I was nervous about pursuing a completely new project in which I had no experience. I've spent the majority of my "post-college" years chasing corporate ambitions, and being pretty successful at it, but nothing I've accomplished has ever sparked a passion such as this. After my first day in rehearsal, I knew that this was it. I told myself that THIS is my new career. And I love it. It's a different feeling than anything I've ever pursued. I can tell it was meant to be. And ironically, this industry has been right here in my face for my entire life - my sister (Penny Johnson Jerald) has been a successful actress for at least 2 decades now. So I have no regrets, except that it took ME so long to "discover myself"!
As for my goals in this industry, I just want to be recognized for being good at what I do. And I want this ride to last as long as possible. How am I making sure that happens for me? Training, training, training! Networking, networking, networking! I am EVERYWHERE at once, from Atlanta to L.A., no matter how big or small the role - because you just never know... And perhaps one of these days, I'll develop a phenomenal English accent and star alongside Keira Knightley in Love Actually, The Sequel! How grand would that be? ;-)
On a personal note, I'm just a girl with a wicked sense of humor, a strong mischievous streak, and of powerful belief that life is far too short not to enjoy every minute of it. If I had to pick a few movies that define how my mental state has been at any given point in time since childhood, they'd be "Almost Famous", "Night at the Roxbury", and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off"... The common thread? Living life like "we may never get this chance again, so let's DO IT - no matter how crazy, far-fetched, or misunderstood our motives may be..."
I once talked my entire 6th grade science class (even my less-than-convinced white friends, lol) into leaving the classroom and hiding under the stairwell from a teacher with the temper of a HELL CAT when she was running a few mintes late one day. We all ended up in lunch detention, but hey, like I explained to my classmates then, and I still believe now - you will always remember this day! Why? Because even though we got in trouble, it wasn't like all of your other run-of-the-mill, dry as oatmeal, cookie cutter days. Your heart beat a little faster, you breathed a little heavier, you were nervous, you didn't know what would happen, and we laughed. Dude, we laughed... I must admit that my pranks have escalated a bit since then, but you get the idea (haha) And I suppose that's exactly why I am an actress :-)
I'm also a chameleon, highly sensitive and adaptable to my surroundings, and I love that, because it's what makes my life so rich. Luxury suites are right up the kid's alley, but if I have to crash overnight on the floor of a closet space (because that's just the way life can be sometimes), I'll be the one cracking jokes and smiling at the sun in the morning. Then I'll write a blog about it (haha). Let's seeee, what else? Oh, I love foam parties and fruity pebbles cereal. Sometimes I worry about whether or not all my bottles and cans are really being taken to the recycling plants. Everyone I meet is a potential friend. I don't understand negative people. I'm drawn to "mild trouble", lol... you know, the kind that gets folks all riled up but turns out relatively harmless in the end. I think my mom is beautiful and my dad is wise. I'm mentally affectionate, but not so much physically (if that makes any sense). Still, I love some people more than they'll ever know. The three sensations I hate THE most are being hungry, being cold, and having to pee. One is bad, but put all three together and I'm not so nice. Outside of those things, I'm not all that hard to please, lol. And more than anything, people who wander off the beaten path to accomplish great things impress me...
This is my life.

What's Going On Today?
(10/15/07)
I don't know how, but each weekend I have in a different time zone gets more adventurous than the last. One of these days, I just might blow from the intesity of it all, lol. But I'm wrapping up my BET Hip Hop awards weekend down in the "A" before I head home to MD/DC for a short visit, then to New York for auditions, back home for another audition, and then back to Atlanta again to film (which I might as well start calling HOME!) What a weekend... I'm just thankful that I managed through it safely and productively, and am leaving having vibed with the most amazing artists. Viva la "Compound", "5000 One's" video set, the "Intercontinental", and the dozens of paths that I crossed in between!! It's a good life.

What an amazing weekend in "America's Finest City" - the energy, vibes, conversations, connections, laughs, highs, music, mischief, beauty... there are truly no words. But I want to thank you guys (you know who you are!) for bringing me into the fam and making me feel like a rockstar too ;-)
Knock Knock!
Who's There?
HOTEL SECURITY... (uh-oh!)

LOL, LOL, LOL...

Been in L.A. for the past week and a half. Gonna be here for another two weeks or so. Just gearing up to film my scenes in "The Dark Party" with Kadeem Hardison (who happens to be cool as a fan by the way)... Looking forward to getting back to the East Coast when this project is over, and to Atlanta especially. I'm really excited about my project there, and as always, I'll be glad to catch up with my ATL buds.

I'm gonna have to stop reporting where I am, lol. A week and half ago I was in L.A, last week I was in Atlanta, came home to MD on Monday, and in a couple of weeks I have to be in L.A. again. Everyone is confused and no one can keep up, including me! lol... So just know that during the month of September, I'll be filming two different projects on two different coasts, and at any given time I could be in your time zone... or not!
Nuts right?? But I love it :-)

On the way back from L.A... US Airways lost my bags. "Slept" overnight in a freezing airport. Cell phones went unanswered. Never got my bags. Finally rescued by OTS Entertainment. Thanks Reg.

Well this visit home was short lived... I'm headed RIGHT back to L.A. on Monday to audition for a new project, and to have a meeting about an existing one. I might as well get used to this lifestyle on the run, eh? It's hectic... but charmed. :-)
*kisses in fast forward*

I'm back in the East again, and it feels SO good to be home! I missed my east coast folks... and my dog, lol. And the good news is that I don't have to start living bi-coastally right away. My agent, big sis, and I are following a phase I, II, and III plan for my longterm career - the first phase of which involves me taking a semester of theatre classes at home, and then returning to LA in January when pilot season starts. And I'll just commute for individual projects until then. Sounds fabulous to me!
*kisses*
(7/17/07)
I'm sitting on the set of "The Last Score" right now waiting for my turn to film, and I'm just thinking...God how I wish I could post ALL of my L.A. memoirs here! But my headshot/resume just happens to have my myspace URL on it, and well, hey....lol... Just take my word for it folks, this past month has been one wild, amazing, lucky, coincidental, insane, hilarious, offensive, productive, cursed and blessed ride! And really, I'm thankful for all of it. Among many many other things, I found out that I can sing my little heart out under pressure (who knew?? Amazing Grace at that! haha) and that, as big sis keeps telling me, I'm more of a "cliff jumper" than I thought I was... But I get to come HOME on Monday for a few days (yipee!), and I must say that there is NOTHING like the East Coast. Then I head off to Atlanta again for a little while (yipee times TWO!), and then it's BACK here, to the city of angels... Did somebody say angel? *snicker*

Life, for me, has been one fortunate string of "right place, right time" happenings. Yesterday, I accidently walked right into the middle of an audition, and they insisted that I read for them. Wild huh? Who knows if I'll land the movie, but it's SAG feature film, which is way cool, and I also met the greatest talent coordinator/booking agent who hooked me up with some priceless advice and contacts... and possibly another audition for another SAG feature next week. ;-)

Well, my first week in L.A. has consisted of working out, voice lessons, discovering "Pollo Loco", and painting the city red with folks here for the BET awards. The last of them left town today, so next week, I focus. What a lovely distraction they were though! :-)

I had NO idea that the Heimlich Maneuver worked on dogs, but I'm sure glad that it does! I almost lost my puppy this morning :-(
We were out for a walk when he came running back up to me choking. He stopped breathing, fell on his side, and started foaming at the mouth. I panicked for a split second, and then I grabbed his back, put my hand under his abdomen, and pulled it up with one really hard thrust... and out pops a two-inch long chicken bone with a VERY sharp point, along with one of his teeth!
What does he do? He gets up, shakes his ears and starts playing again. While I'm standing there ready to shed tears like a big baby, lol. He took it better than I did - he's STILL taking it better than I did!
*puppy kisses*

The kid ran 2.5 miles with Riddick Bowe this morning after not working out for a good three weeks...
Keep up champ! LOL...
You'll be ready for Switzerland in no time! ;-)

Such is the ethical life of an actor...
I had to turn down the film in Atlanta. I'd be double booked because the principle photography days fall on the EXACT same days as the film I landed about a month ago and started this past weekend. And it's simply NOT cool to back out on a project you've already committed to, leaving the director/producer/cast high and dry, and costing them time and money. That's career suicide, not to mention just unprofessional and WRONG. But I can't be too bummed out, because like big sis said, "That's a good problem to have, Noree. The alternative is no work at all." True. Very true... And hey, at least I landed it. That's an accomplishment in itself. And maybe one of these days, when I reach 'Audrey Hepburn status' (lol), entire productions can be worked around my schedule. Imagine that! hehehe... Sooo, I wish that production much success, and I appreciate being their first choice. And I'm quite sure that this is just the first of many difficult decisions that lie ahead on this journey...
But hey, I have so much love for the "A" (seriously), and some very special friends down there, so I'll be back SOON. I definitely plan to stay in the audition circuit!
In other news (-- lol), L.A. here I come! I head out on June 21st, right after I wrap up the film I just started in DC, and will be gone for about a month. I have some pretty groovy things lined up on the "left coast", so stay tuned. Well, I'm going to cuddle with my puppy now. He missed me!

I just got the call. AND I LANDED A LEAD ROLE IN THE FILM I AUDITIONED FOR IN ATLANTA! Soooo, off I go to the south again! Meanwhile, here in DC (lol), I start filming a brand new independent feature tomorrow. Two Film Projects + One Me = a VERY Busy Flight Schedule. My head is spinning right now. Man... when my sister said that this life moves fast, she wasn't kidding! I'll have more to write when I'm done processing. I think. lol... Wow.

(5/22/07)
I swear life is in fast forward for me! I just got home from my "audition tour" early this morning. New York was a little overwhelming and stressful, but once I got to Atlanta, things eased up a bit for me. And before I even left, I received a call-back for the audition I had there - so I came home today, got beautiful (you know, the whole hair and pedicure thing, lol) and I'm headed back to Atlanta tomorrow morning. Being there this past week was a blast though!
In addition to my gracious host (thanks Mikey ), positive audition experience, and tour of the southernly hospitable city, I got to reeeally "party like a rockstar" with some very cool and very famous friends at The Velvet Room.
If I could only put that night into words, lol...
Do I smell a relocation on the horizon? We shall see... :-)
Gotta go pack now... AGAIN! Wish me luck!

(3/23/07)
What a day... So you guys will have forgive me if I pass out in the middle of typing this, lol. Of course I didn't sleep a wink last night because of my audition this morning (which I feel REALLY good about, by the way!) And right after my audition in Baltimore, I had to rush to Reagan National to pick up the newest addition to my family - a 4th generation Blue Ribbon pure pedigree Dachshund. I named him O'lee! All I can say is that it was love at first sight, but BOY is he SPOILED! A match made in heaven, I suppose. :-)
