Porta Sonora

IN THE BEGINNING THERE WAS MUSIC

About Me

PORTA SONORA is an example of the magic that happens when people follow their true desires. Its about crossing paths, destinies and borders. The miracles that catch us unsuspecting and the love that unites us all. This project is one where all the members express themselves intuitively and as they please. The result is PORTA SONORA, sounding as if it had always been there written somewhere before. Dark vocal melodies, and melodic bass lines contrasting with the edgy latin rythems and electronic edge is the life pursuit of its three key members. The diverse backgrounds of these members gives the music an international flavor.ELIZABETH REECE(vocals, lyrics) Is originally from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and has been singing and performing since the age of eight. She has appeared in dramatic plays, musicals and with orchestras all throughout the midwest. "Though I was a classically trained singer, and thrown into the world of opera...it was never where I really belonged. I longed to create and compose music and recreate my emotions or the emotions of charachters on stage. Just being a part of a production was rarely satisfying to me. There were always certain rules attached or it was simply someone elses vision being realized." Music has no limits...you get out of it what you put into it. I hope to help others realize their potential by realizing mine. Elizabeth has also been co-writer and recorded with Echo Blue, and MTBI(More To Be Imagined.) She is also working on a drum and bass/experimental project with Diego Verney, soon to released this coming summer.DIEGO VERNEY(drums, percussion, sequencing) Is from Cali, Colombia and started playing at age 11 with makeshift drum sets of various and dubious materials{coffee cans, broken arrow sticks, pizza cutters etc...} At age 15 he moved to New York City where he studied with two great drum teachers: Ignacio Berroa and Mike Languino. Diego recorded his first album at age 16 for Underground Records. In 1994 he moved back to Colombia where he met his friend, music partner, and bass player Andreas Mora. Together they formed one of the most popular rock bands in Colombia , SANTA SANGRE. With them, Diego recorded 2 cd’s and toured for 6 years. After Santa Sangres’ success Diego and Andreas joined NAVA a talented musician and songwriter, with whom they recorded 2 cd’s and toured for 3 years playing big venues all over Colombia and South America. In 2000 Diego moved to Florida where he has been working for many artists from Mexico, Spain, Argentina, and Colombia in the Miami area playing all styles of music including rock, metal, jazz, and latin music.ANDREAS MORA(bass) Lovingly called Beethoven, Cali, Colombia. He has been playing bass for 25 yrs. Andreas is a graduate of the prestigious BIT Institute of Music in LA. He has played with numerous South American recording artists and still performs with these live acts in Miami. He has been an innovator of his own bands and projects and has recorded and toured with two successful bands in South America. KRONOS, a popular heavy metal band, as well as SANTA SANGRE a latin, rock, funk band, and is well known in Colombia for these projects. Andreas is also a co-creator of PORTA SONORA. He still fills in for bands all over South Florida. His diverse experience playing rock, metal, jazz, classical and latin adds a smooth and flawless melodic line to his compositions. Together Diego and Andreas sound like a locomotive engine giving all their projects a solid sound. These guys always have your back!
