On December 19th, 2006, my mom and I went down to Colorado to attend my sister's wedding. At the wedding, there was this guy that I kept making eye contact with. I was the maid of honor and he was second groom's men. The entire wedding, I was drawn to him. I even remember the speech he made.
Six days later, on the night of Christmas - December 25th, he came over to the house I was staying at to see my sister and her husband.
When I popped in to say goodnight, him and I began to talk. We quickly realized that although we were both from Colorado, fate was playing a part. I lived in WA and found out that he was stationed two hours from me.
That night we talked until 3 am. We laughed, we hugged and we kissed. I knew he was the one. The entire ride home, I could not get him off my brain. I knew that this would be the man I would marry.
On December 29th, Cody came up to Bellingham, WA. We spent 4 amazing days together. Again, we knew.
On January 6th 2007, he proposed and I accepted. I accepted with all of my heart.
On January 20th 2007, we said "I do". And I will, forever.
In a very short amount of time, my husband has become the center of my world and me the center of his.
We are stationed at Fort Lewis, WA and live in Tacoma, WA. When we are not together, I feel hollow and lonely, and constantly miss his body next to mine at night; the sound of his breathing, those soft snores that sometimes escape his mouth. When we are apart, he calls me constantly to tell me that he loves me.
When we are together, he treats me like a woman. He buys me what I need, hugs and kisses me constantly, and always tells me he loves me at least once a day, and in most cases, several hundred times a day.
We eat together. We shower together. We sleep together. We pee together. We laugh together. We cry together. We walk together. The point is, that whether we are apart or close, we are together, forever and for always.
I have become one of 'those' wives, and I never thought that I could be so happy about it. It is not what you're doing in life that will make you happy - it's who you're doing it with. That statement is as true as "I love you."
Please pray that very soon, we will have a sweet blue-eyed baby girl, or even a cute little baby boy. We are trying so hard.
He will be deployed in May, and I dread being apart.
