We have a unique and important Star Wars-related message to convey—one that concerns every Star Wars fan.
Star Wars aficionados and detractors can now interview themselves and each other, and submit their footage for possible inclusion in a feature-length documentary event, slated for release in 2009. This first-of-a-kind documentary will revolutionize the way we look at movies, and we want you to participate and help us spread the word about the first truly democratic feature film in history.
Here’s what it’s all about:
The People vs. George Lucas is a feature-length documentary exploring the unique, ambivalent, and sometimes conflicted relationship that Star Wars fans, for the past thirty years, continue to enjoy with the Star Wars franchise and their creator, George Lucas.
Why are a number of Star Wars fans so prejudiced against the Special Editions, the prequels, Jar Jar Binks, the Midichlorians? Why are others so vehemently prepared to defend George Lucas in the face of such accusations? In short, what compels Star Wars fans to endlessly debate a subject so close to their heart?
As a participatory film, The People vs. George Lucas will be comprised of celebrity interviews (shot in HD video), and interviews by and of Star Wars fans from around the globe, who are now welcome to send us their footage for possible inclusion in the film. The idea is to create a fan film for and partly by fans in a style paying tribute to the YouTube phenomenon. Our objective is to examine and articulate the many contentious issues that have become an integral part of the Star Wars mystique.
The People vs. George Lucas is a unique opportunity for Star Wars fans to voice their opinion and be heard around the globe. Together, we can show the world what it means to be a Star Wars fan. Together, we can show Hollywood how powerful we, the people, really are.
We urge you to visit our website The People vs George Lucas , and we sincerely hope that you’ll be as excited about this project as we are. If so, we want you to spread the word and get involved!
