When Harry Met Sally, I 3 Huckabees, Y Tu Mama Tambien (and any Bernal film at all), Dot The "I", the Monty Python Menagerie of Films, Mysterious Skin, Brick, My Own Private Idaho, First Wives Club (guilty pleasure), West Side Story & Fiddler on the Roof(guilty musical pleasures)......I could go on but I won't. Pretty much anything that inspires, insults, and leaves me with that feeling of "hmm, life reflection time." Anything with Will Ferrell does not fit into this category and it is fine if he amuses you but I find him painstakingly irritating.UPDATE! The New Will Ferrell film "Stranger Than Fiction" was actually enjoyable . . . maybe because Will Ferrell wasn't trying to be some dopey idiot. Who knew he had some acting talent? Certainly not me!
Television:
I don't have cable which keeps me from indulging in too much TV but when I do watch I like Law & Order (all of them, I could watch that show forever), Most things on Comedy Central, Divorce Court, and those borderline soap format shows on HBO and Showtime like Queer as Folk, Weeds, Sex and the City (which I usually get frustrated with because the girls end up pissing me off somehow), and my latest favorite show is the D-List with Kathy Griffith. I think it's because that show hits so close to home with me.....shudder.Also I am a PBS addict with my FOUR stations that I now get in my room (KCET, KVCR, KOCE, KLCS) and they bring great joy to my life. Nova makes me smile. Masterpiece makes me wince in pleasure, and Antique Roadshow is pointless yet addicting. I love that if one is showing something I don't like I have three others to flip through. Books:
I like the classics mostly because I enjoy tying present and past with Dickens, Tolstoy, Chaucer, and the like. I HATED Da Vinci Code yet I will note I finished it in spite of itself. Also I read a lot in politics and international cultures because that is all so interesting to me.
Heroes:
Everyone affects everyone in some way or another and so I would have to say the world. Whether it is people who I admire and want to follow in the footsteps of or those who repulse me and I hope to never reflect in my own personality. So everyone is important and all that hippy bullshit.
